Chapter 6 - Badminton Racket

Ashley's POV

Why is Shan taking so long? Where is she anyways? She's gone for like 30 minutes now. Ugh! Not that I'm worried or something.

"Why don't you go talk to him?" Troi and Lucy were still talking about that guy whom she met at the space shuttle.

"Talk to him?! I dont even know him. Besides I'm the girl he should be the one who's making the effort." Lucy insisted.

"Yeah! I agree with Luce" I said as I chewed on my burger and watch the two arguing who should be doing the first move. I excused myself and decided to go for a little walk when suddenly I heard a scream of a woman. I followed the voice and saw a lady who was helplessly crying on the ground. I reached up to her and more tears came out of her eyes.

"Hey hey... Are you alright? What happened?" I asked the lady but she was still sobbing really hard so I calmed her down first.

"T-there's a man with a g-gun. h-he was p-pointing it to my h-husband. My h-husband told me to run! So I r-ran away and l-left him with the g-uy with the gun. I-i-i didn't look back b-because I was afraid. Then all I heard was screaming and b-begging. I l-left him!!! I s-should've stayed there!!!!" she cried continuously while I held her for support.

I was shocked by her story. Soon enough people were screaming, running in different directions, they were panicking. I looked back to see Troi and Lucy confused. Then I heard a loud bang followed by more screams from the people.

"H-hey it's going to be alright! I will call the police and tell them what happened. Come on! You have to get out of here! Follow the people! Follow them until you reach the exit! Go!" I directed her and she nodded at me. I ran back to Troi and Lucy, they look very lost and confused.

"What's happening?! Are there some kind of zombie apocalypse?!! Why are they screaming?!" Troi asked me in panic but there was no time to explain.

"Cal 911 now! Tell them there's an emergeny at the City Amusement park! There's a man with a gun and he held someone hostage!" I yelled at them so they would hear me over the screaming sound. Troi started dialing on her phone and Lucy looked alarmed at the information I give them. Then again another sound of a loud bang was heard. It sounded as if it was near, which means the gunman is still inside the park with the hostage.

"We should get out of here!" I dragged them but Lucy stopped me.

"Shannon!" she looked at me with a worried face. Damnnit! Shannon!

"I've contacted the police! They said they'll be here any minute now! What should we do next?!" Troi informed us, her eyes showed fear even though she's trying her best to hide it.

"I should find Shay! She could still be here! I insisted but they both disagreed with me.

"What do you mean YOU! We could find he-" I cut her off

"No! If I lose Shannon I can't lose you too. Get out of here! Inform me when the police arrives!" I commanded them.

"Bu-"

"Just go!" They ran to the exit and looked back at me. I nooded at them and gave them a reassuring smile.

I took out my phone and called Shay, but it only lead to her voicemail. "Shannon! Where are you?! Call me as soon as possible!" I left her a message and started walking at the already desolated park.
