The gateway to my mind [Poetry]

Should I let myself love you or destroy the feelings
Should I board a boat far away from us or stay stranded on this abandoned island

You left the second you saw a ship
While I stayed awaiting your return
I stayed stranded while you boarded many new ships
The sand around me slowly sucked me in
As I watched from a far as you smiled with another

I was tired of waiting for a lost cause and
No boats came back so I swam far from that island
And as I held onto a single wood afloat the deep dark sea
The night sky dark and intimidating it began to hug me

I watched as all the ships you boarded sank and you swam to that island in search of my hand
But as I was greeted with comforting darkness
You were greeted with an empty island
You sank to the ground as I turned around and swam away never to be found again
