It seemed so perfect but ended so soon

Prom came within days of Bella being Discharged from the hospital. Silas was not happy with her choice of date, he'd be happier if she went with one of the idiots from school but no she had to go with Edward Cullen. He sat on her bed scowling trying to come up with ways he could dispose of the teenage vampire before he could take his baby sister to prom. Silas watched her curl her brunette hair and apply light makeup to her doll-like face.

The siblings were completely different in the genetics department. Silas had jet-black curls and droopy hazel eyes that made him look uninterested and tired. Bella had brunette waves and brown doe eyes making her look like an innocent porcelain doll. Silas was short and petite like his mother and Bella was tall and almost boxy like Charlie. Although looks weren't the only thing that set them apart.

Bella checked over herself once more while she allowed Silas to zip up the back of her dress. " How do I look?" Silas knew she was nervous, she wanted to seem beautiful enough to be the dangerously gorgeous vampire's date. " You're beautiful, way too pretty for Edward," Silas said with a sniff obvious disapproval for the other teen plastered on his face. Bella knew her older brother didn't approve but at least he complained very little, when he did she ignored his snarky remarks and snide comments. " Make sure I don't fall down the steps please," Bella begged as they walked out of her bedroom, she'd rather die than face that kind of embarrassment. " I'd push you before you fell." Silas joked to ease the tension within the Swan home. " Thanks, Si," Bella replied voice filled with Sarcasm as they descended the stairs. Once they approached the last step Edward spoke up to Charlie " No need to worry Chief Swan, I'll take good care of her." Charlie scoffed at Edward not impressed at all with the teen. His arms crossed and his eyes were slitted in annoyance at Edward. " I've heard that one before."

His tone was gruff and closed off not wanting to make any more conversation with the boy. Silas was surprised Charlie was even allowing Edward to come within 100 feet of Bella after everything that has happened between the two. He knew if it were him in Bella's position Charlie would have put his foot down. Soon enough the two teens were gone to enjoy their evening with the promise of Bella being home at a more than reasonable hour. The father-son pair were sitting on the couch, Charlie enjoying the baseball game and Silas texting rapidly on his phone.

' You gonna come to the party?' The text was from none other than Mike Newton, Silas had mixed emotions about the younger boy, he could never decide on just one way to feel about him. 'You'll know if I show up.' Was Silas's simple reply before clicking the power button on his phone. The thought of partying was tempting, too tempting. The people, the music, the drinks, the drugs, even the sex. It was all very tempting but Silas didn't feel like going through the motions of a relapse. " Dad I'm going to go upstairs for a bit." Charlie nodded not bothering to question his eldest, he learned a long time ago not to question his son unless he was messing up. It was best to just enjoy the peace while it lasted instead of Silas distancing himself even further. Silas sat on his balcony wondering how he allowed himself to be in the position he was in now. Dangerously close to falling in love with a predator, fearing for his life, knowing his sister has been tortured by a psychotic vampire and her still begging to become one. There wasn't anything he could do about any of it and that angered him.

The familiar ringtone brought him out of his depressing thoughts. ' Alice Cullen ' Silas didn't want to answer the pixie-like vampiress's call but he knew if he didn't she'd blow up his phone. " Hey, Alice," Silas spoke with a bored tone wanting the conversation to be over quickly. Alice quickly cut to the chase obviously not wanting to drag out the call either. " There's a gift bag on your bed, wear what's in it and be here by ten ... and stop worrying so much your future is exceedingly bright." She didn't even give Silas enough time to respond before hanging up. Silas sat in his chair on the balcony finishing up his cigarette trying to decide if he was going to comply with her wishes.

He eventually got up and took a hot shower so he could go find out what all the mystery was about. It was no surprise to him when he discovered there were no price tags or receipts in the bag, he couldn't return the overly expensive clothes even if he wanted. The baby blue button-up shirt was made of smooth silk that felt like heaven on his skin. The soft sweater was made of a very familiar cashmere, he recognized the style as Versache's newest winter collection. As his mother bought him a similar sweater only it was black instead of charcoal grey. The pair of black slacks that completed the wardrobe fit snugly yet comfortably around his waist and loosely around his legs. The true surprise of all was the jewelry. Diamond studs and a silver necklace with a Cullen crest pendant that hung low on his chest. Silas looked almost delicate in his expensive clothes and jewelry. Although something was missing, he finished his look with a swipe of shimmer to his lids and a light brush of pastel blue under his lower lash line, he couldn't forget the shimmery gloss he borrowed from his sister that he would definitely forget to give back.

Looking back into his mirror one last time he grabbed his things to slip out of the house quietly. Silas was very unsuccessful in his task to slip out unnoticed. Charlie sent a low playful wolf whistle to Silas " You cleaned up good, hot date?" Charlie asked playfully glad his son was finally getting out of the house. " Something like that." The thought of Carslile even being near warm was laughable. The man was undead, skin feeling as if it was made of ice and marble. Silas kept his answer vague but left enough room so Charlie would go asking questions. As if Charlie would even ask questions about his eldest's love life.

The drive over to the Cullens was peaceful, only with the quiet hum of the radio to accompany him on the drive over. Like always Carslile welcomed him into the beautiful home. "Join me for dinner?" Carslile asked gently with a soft smile that met his eyes. Silas knew he shouldn't accept but he did anyways.

Dinner was enjoyable with delicious spaghetti with a fruity red wine, dessert was just as delicious, a sweet cheesecake paired with the same red wine as before. Their conversations were quiet and surprisingly unforced. Silas would have thought everything would have been awkward because of the past events but everything was flowing naturally as if nothing had ever happened.

Just like their first dinner together they ended the night with a dance in the plush gardens. " Are you afraid?" Carslile asked breathing in Silas's lavender scent, wishing he could bask and bathe in the scent forever. The sound of Saliva Plath's ' Dream ' softly playing in the background made everything feel like time was slowing down so the two of them could enjoy the moment a bit longer. " Terrified," Silas whispered back breathlessly. He wasn't terrified of carslile, he was terrified of falling in love with Carslile.
