So I have this theory, which is pretty strong in the Ninjago fandom, that remember Pixals perfect match machine was in borg tower right? And at the time it was contaminated with the overlord right? Y'all know her I'm going with this, the overlord freaking tried to divide up the ninja using the machine as in providing a wrong perfect match for nya! So Cole is not her perfect match as that will be jay! And the overlord just tried to split them up and make them argue by doing that! I didn't come up with this tho, as I said before it's pretty strong in the fandom and I believe it!
