Stevie was stuck in the hospital for a week or so after the fall. The Pogues came in and visited back and forth which kept her entertained as hospital life grew pretty boring. She mainly looked forward to seeing JJ. Every visit he would bring her a new shell to add to her growing collection and soon the blonde took over her mind. He made her happier.
Luckily for her, they stopped the gold mission until she got out, saying it was unfair to leave her out just because she was in the hospital. It gave John B extra time to check over the Tannyhill plat maps.
Once Stevie was finally strong enough to leave the hospital, although she was still limping, she went back with Pope to her new home. She had slept over at his house many times but still found it weird that she would actually be living here away from John B. "Hello my darling." Pope's mum greeted her with a warm hug as she entered the residence.
"Hi mama," Stevie fell into the hug. Stevie had always called Pope's mum mama, she was more of a mother to her than her actual mum ever was.
"You're a silly thing," Mrs Heyward softly scolded the girl for her recklessness. "Your room is upstairs next to Pope's, do you remember Heyward's old junk room?" Stevie nodded, "He cleared it out for you and put a bed and wardrobe in."
"Thank you," Stevie couldn't help but smile. She felt blessed that people had put effort into her seeing as her parents never did. With help from Heyward and Pope, Stevie made her way up the stairs and dropped off her things in her room before being beckoned by Pope to a meeting at the Wreck.
When she got there she couldn't help but be excited to see JJ again, outside of the hospital. She couldn't believe what had happened to her, not a month ago she hated him but now she was giddy to see him. He was the sun in her life, giving her light, warmth and energy. The thought of him made her smile yet she hadn't figured it out yet. He's JJ, John B's best friend.
"Hey," Stevie said to him when she first saw him in the wreck, trying to hide her crazy feelings.
"Hey?" he said, not expecting the friendly greeting.
"How are you?" She smiled at him but he looked more confused.
"I'm fine." he laughed, drinking from the cup that Kie had given him, "Why?"
"What do you mean, 'why'?" Stevie panicked slightly, "I'm asking you how you are that's not weird. That's normal."
"You've literally never asked me how I am before," JJ pointed out and Stevie started to feel embarrassed. Whatever was going on with her feelings towards JJ, she didn't want anyone to know, especially not him.
"Ok, bloody hell. I won't do it again then," She snapped, "Sorry for asking(!)"
"That's more like it," JJ was used to her slightly angry, sarcastic tone. It was her natural register when talking to him. It used to be. He noticed the change in her attitude towards him, it gave him small glimpses of hope.
"When will John B get here?" Stevie asked Kie to move attention away from whatever just happened with JJ. "Never mind," she said as John B came through the door. Kie went up to talk to him alone while Pope, JJ and Stevie watched in fear of Kie's reaction, "She's gonna be so pissed."
"I'm sorry," Kie raised her voice so the group in the back could hear, "You're staying where?"
"Tanyhill." John B said calmly.
"So you're living with Sarah Cameron," Kie said spitefully as she brought a tray from the counter to the restaurant.
"Ok, im only living there because her dad bailed me out," John B tried to defend himself, "Which is better than foster care."
"Do you have a membership to the clubs now?" Pope asked taking the piss out of him.
"What about those golf carts they drive around?" JJ joined in, "Do you get one of them?"
"Does it come with a sweater vest," Stevie joined in, pissed that her brother didn't seem to care that they weren't together anymore, which is what they had been fighting against. "Or do you have to buy one on your own?"
"Look, you promised." Kie was still upset about Sarah, "you said you weren't with her."
"You believed him?" Stevie asked, laughing slightly. She thought it was obvious that he was lying. A stranger could have known he was the type to fall for Sarah Cameron.
"Bro, just own it," JJ sipped some more of his drink, "She got you."
"Oh you wanna go there," John B snapped back. Looking at JJ and then at Stevie. Her eyebrows furrowed as she didn't understand but she was more confused when she looked at JJ who looked embarrassed and slightly pissed at John B, sticking his lower jaw out and shaking his head like he did when he was frustrated. John B knew that unbeknownst to Stevie, she got him.
"Look if you wanna hang out with her, that's fine." Kie was still dragging out the argument even though no one else really cared, "But I'm letting you know right now that I'm not doing anything with Sarah."
"Do you see her here?" John B was done with Kie's pettiness, "No, so let's have a little focus. We got the map."
"It's all out of whack 'cause the guy was ganja'd when he drew it," JJ complained, not using his full brain.
"It's because the coasts have changed." Stevie smiled at JJ's silliness. JJ held his hands up in defeat making the girl laugh.
"So we need to look at landmarks that haven't changed," Pope deduced.
"What about old forts?" Kie thought out loud, which flipped a switch in Stevie's head.
"Oh, Battery Jasper is still there." She said realising they could use it as a reference for finding where Parcel Nine is in modern-day Kildare. The group took a small car trip to where the remains of the fort, that Stevie had suggested, stood. The group stood out on the rocks and looked across the island and used the map to work out where things were meant to be.
"We're at Battery right here," Pope pointed on the map, "so if this is parcel nine, then it's somewhere northeast of here."
"Guys that's not Tannyhill," JJ used his local knowledge. They were all born and raised in the outer banks but JJ had a long family legacy in Kildare and knew people and things everywhere, which came in handy for things like this. "That's a subdivision," he said but John B explained how Tannyhill used to be the whole island and it was sold into subdivisions over time.
"Ok so we need to find an old stone wall," Stevie summarised as she looked at the map. The group agreed and got back into the Twinkie, looking blindly for a wall northeast of where they were.
"That looks like a stone wall to me." JJ pointed out the wall running parallel to the road.

After scolding JJ for his beliefs about the crane house, the group searched for any kind of water as the clue said. They found little luck in the garden surrounding the house until John B found an opening into a basement. "Guys come on. it's the one place we haven't looked."
Stevie struggled to bend and crouch down because of her injured leg and winced as she put pressure on it, "Woah woah woah," JJ noticed her in pain, "Look I'll help you." He extended his arm for her to hold onto instead of hurting her leg.
"Thanks, Jay," she said, not expecting the nickname to roll off her tongue but it felt normal when it did.
"It's okay Evie," He replied and for the first time, she didn't want to slap him for using her old nickname. She no longer associated it with her dad but now thought of JJ when she heard it.
a/n ok sorry this is super short and kinda boring but I find this part of the tv show boring to write for some reason. But we are now in the episode of the confession so Jevie is soon to be real yay.
