As per JJ's plan, the small group of pogues minus Pope, Kie and Sarah waited for a large enough lorry to enter the shipping yard. Whilst security checked the driver and was occupied by the lorry in front of him, Stevie, JJ and John B were able to run, using the vehicle as a shield so they could run down the side and through the fence without arousing suspicion. They stayed low, using the surroundings to hide their presence and to keep out of the way, John B leading the pack and JJ running behind Stevie to ensure she wasn't left behind.
All three crouched behind metal tarnished with rust from years out to sea and slowly turned to face the port. "The coastal venture," JJ read the name off the side of the boat, "Guys I know that ship. My dad did legs on her last summer. It's a total tramp steamer. I worked on her in port,"
Stevie quickly turned to JJ with a suppressed smile but JJ could see the glint in her eyes. She loved this sort of thing about him. His knowledge and deep connection to the island and the boats and his handiness all made him even more attractive. JJ had been so worried that the line had been crossed, that they may be friends again but they would never regain that happiness, they could never go back to the beautiful love that they shared. However, that one look. That one glint in her eyes. That one moment showed JJ that it was possible, that the girl who could fall in love with him despite all of their faults was still there.
"There's the cross" John B brought two back to the mission on hand, "Right there, look," He pointed to the wooden crate, the weight of which made the crane stumble to start. Their eyes flickered down to the people loading the boat and Stevie's eyes got caught on Rafe with his stupid smug grin
"Oh I really fucking hate that guy," she sighed earning a snort from JJ who agreed with the sentiment. "John B," Stevie nudged her brother as she noticed the Cameron's car pull up and a very disoriented Sarah got out.
"There she is," John B said watching as she was dragged onto the boat, clearly not fully awake, "JJ, we gotta come up with a plan"
"I know I'm working on it," JJ started to look at his surroundings and used his survival instincts to piece together a way forward, "If we get over to that barge," JJ started pointing, "we go over. We'll have to get in the water, though"
"That's fine," John B reassured, determined to go after his girlfriend.
"Then we're gonna be sitting ducks," Stevie weighed in.
The three were so zoned in on what was in front of them, they lost attention to what was happening behind them, making them collectively jump when Pope and Kie had finally caught up to them. "Howdy" Kie said with a cheeky smile as she watched the three of her friends jump at her unexpected arrival.
"Whoa!" JJ gasped, "I was about to stab your eyes out," JJ held his two fingers out mimicking the stabbing motion which only made Stevie giggle at how much he jumped when Kie surprised them.
"You look scared as shit," Stevie smiled at the boy and earnt an eye roll back.
"How'd you even find us?" JJ asked, distracting the other from his jumpscare.
"Geo-located Stevie's phone," Kie smiled at the other girl.
"Well, thank you Find My Friends," Stevie put her hand together in a paying motion whilst John b assessed Pope's injured face.
"What happened?"
"Rafe round three," He muttered.
"I swear to fucking god when I get my hand on him," Stevie seethed, her hate for Rafe bubbling inside of her.
"Relax Stevie, this was a tie," Pope tried to calm her down.
"I don't give a shit. I still want to curb stomp him," Stevie said deadpan.
