"John Routledge!" JJ heard being yelled from the same voices that shouted at Lana. He was just at the door of the porch when he saw the silhouettes outside making him slip as he turned to rush back into the safety of the office. "Come out now!"

JJ slipped into the room empty-handed, "where's the gun?" John B asked while Kie panicked next to them.

"They're on the front porch," JJ explained as he carefully shut the door.

"What about you Stevie?" Another man shouted, "you home? Where's the compass, Stevie?" They shouted whilst smashing things inside. Stevie had never felt more afraid and vulnerable. They knew her name. They were in her home. She felt this deep sick feeling in the bottom of her stomach as everyone panicked around her.

"We gotta go," Kie moved away from the door and towards the window. They could still hear the grunts and yells of the men smashing up the Chateau while they tried to lift the windows. However, they all struggled to get them open. "What's happening? Why's it taking so long?" Kie said with shortness of her breath as her heart beat out of her chest.

"It's painted shut ok," JJ turned around to tell her whilst Pope continued to try. John B had moved away and stood in front of the door in case the intruders realised it was locked while Stevie checked every window in case some were looser than the others. Half of her mind thought of smashing the window to get threw but it created more issues as it would create mess and noise and it would be harder to crawl through. But while she thought of smashing she saw an old letter opener on her father's desk.

"Guys. What about this?" She asked as she brought it closer to the window where JJ and Pope were struggling.

"Where the hell is that compass kids!?" The man shouted from the back of the house whilst Stevie painstakingly chipped away at the paint.

"Come on," JJ demanded impatiently.

"I'm going as fast as I can," Stevie raised her voice slightly as the boy. He would still piss her off in life-or-death situations. Pope had gone to back the door up with John B and told the two to shhhh when they heard footsteps coming closer.

"You better not be in there!" One of the men shouted as the door handle rattled. He started kicking at the door making bits of wood break away and forcing John B and Pope to move. They came back to the window in hope of it being closer to opening. Stevies's heart stopped when she heard the bullet but at least the JJ was now beginning to open the window to allow them to escape.

Kie and John B crawled out first and were tasked with finding a new place to hide until the men left. Pope followed after them and then JJ politely allowed Stevie to crawl out first before being the last to leave.

"Go," JJ whispered nodding his head towards the widow.

"Sure?" Stevie asked forgetting that two men with guns were about to enter the room.

JJ rolled his eyes and said, "Just go," to which Stevie smiled and hopped out following Pope to the chicken coop. It didn't seem like the best place to hide seeing as they were trapped with a stressed-out live animal but it worked to keep the teens out of view.

"Guys the rooster," Stevie whispered pointing out the incessant clucking.

"Do something Pope," JJ complained, "Shut him up!"

"Pet it or something. Talk to it. I don't know," Kie was on the brink of tears. Both Stevie and John B couldn't help but look out the small window of chicken wire whilst the two burly men took away things from their dad's office. It broke John B's heart to see all the research stripped from their house. Stevie came close to choking out a sob when she saw them holding a beautiful necklace.
