"Are we ok?" Stevie asked after walking into the kitchen having slept next to JJ all night, he held her but he didn't hug her. The two didn't talk anymore about their argument after Stevie apologised, probably because both were trying to pretend it didn't happen, also because with Pope and Kie sleeping in the Chateau too, the two didn't have the privacy they wanted.

He turned around with a chunk of cheese in his hand, biting small bits off. His heart softened when he saw her concerned face, she could wear any expression and JJ would still find it the cutest thing he'd ever seen. Better yet she was dressed completely in his clothes, the ends of his jogging bottoms bunched around her ankles and his t-shirt falling off her shoulder. "Of course," he ate the rest of his cheese before leaning down to pick her up and swing her around whilst holding her tight, "I love you. And nothing could change that, Evie,"

"I love you too," She smiled before seeing Kie waiting in the doorway with her hands in her mouth mimicking gagging. "Sorry Kie," Stevie laughed as JJ put her down now aware of the other girl.

"I'm not," JJ beamed as he leaned down to place a kiss on her forehead.

The four had a lazy morning, none of them had work or obligations so they sat eating breakfast together before relaxing by the surf shack. Stevie ran a few errands, cleaning up, washing clothes. She emptied a part of her draw to allow more space for Kie's stuff seeing as her mum gave her her clothes and kicked her out.

JJ was a fidgety person and got twitchy when everyone else was relaxing so found a way to occupy himself by rewaxing his board while Kie mindlessly strummed her ukelele and Stevie drew some sketches of the scenes in front of her.

"That's a lot of wax on your board," Pope commented on JJ's waxing technique which made Kie and Stevie grimace. Never comment on JJ's wax technique. "Put too much wax, it's gonna be slippery," Pope explained.

"Oh no, Pope," Stevie winced looking at JJ's agitated face. He put her wax down before turning to his friend.

"Are you telling me how to wax my board?" JJ was offended at the notion.

"Just saying that's a lot of wax."

"Nah nah nah," JJ interrupted. Both girls exchanged eye contact questioning whether they should try and diffuse the tension, "You're telling me how to wax my board. You kidding?"

"That's a colossal waste of wax"

"Guys, really?" Kie finally snapped. But she was cut off by the distinctive honk of a car horn and a sputtering engine.

Stevie smiled to herself, reminiscing about their old van, "That almost sounds like..." Her head whipped around faster than she thought was possible and her heart almost burst when she saw her brother smiling in the driver's seat of the Twinkie. "No way," she wasted no time and dropped her things before sprinting into the arms of her brother.

"Jesus Steve," John B chuckled as the air was knocked out of his lungs from the impact of his little sister's hug, "I missed you too."

A second later John B was swarmed by the other three, interlocking their arms in one big hug. Stevie felt warm knowing that they were getting closer and closer to being all together, the only thing missing now was Sarah.

"How'd you do it?" JJ asked, excited again by the prospect of a prison break, "You bust out?"

"They dropped the charges," John B said softly, still in slight disbelief.

"They dropped the charges," Poep and Stevie said at the same time, the pair of them too, in disbelief.

"That's phenomenal!" Kie smiled. They were all smiling. For the first time since the beginning of the summer, they were smiling and free.
