For two days we prepared, Tiger Fang set up perimeters and i did my best to do whatever she told me to do. She wasn't your average woman soldier, she was fierce and she always had an aurora of command to her voice. None the less there wasn't anything i could do, mainly because i knew i needed to heal and it was the only way for me to get back to helping her help us survive.
But on a personal level, things were getting, comfortable. Even though she didn't know it i had caught her cuddling up to me when she thought i was asleep. I didn't say anything of course as i didn't want to piss her off and send her into a denial fit. I also liked the feeling i got when she got close to me, my heart skipped and raced at the same time and everything seemed to melt away from existence and it was just us. Two soldiers finding that they were getting closer than just battle buddies.
I knew she felt the same, when she looked at me with those emerald green eyes. We would end up staring at each other for god knows how long. And on a couple occasions we had gotten so close i had almost lost my will to resist and came close to kissing her. The thought of falling in love scared the shit out of me though. We were in such a dangerous world that if we risked falling for each other and one of us didn't make it. Earth might not ever get the warning of a possible war, and that right now was my primary mission along with survival.
"We are almost done" Tiger Fang purred as she came and sat next to me lightly letting her hand brush against mine. "Just a few more things and we can leave our little surprise for the Raknash when they get here".
"You sure they will fall for it?" i asked locking eyes with her holding her gaze for as long as she dared.
"If they could fall for a unarmed fight with a legendary elite, they will definitely fall for this" she laughed as she dropped her gaze and turned a deep red.
I slowly stood up and tested the range of my shoulder swinging it in a circle a couple times and did some slashing and stabbing motions. No pain shot through my shoulder and i had a full range of motion. Once i was satisfied and took off the gauze and cut out the stitches. The gash had healed into a long pale scar that ran almost the entire length of my shoulder from rotator cuff to my collar bone.
"Think your going to be alright?" Tiger Fang asked walking over and examining the scar. Lightly dragging her finger along the line and sending tingles and cold flashes throughout my entire body making it shudder slightly.
"Ya, I already tested my motion and stress tolerance on it" I mumbled walking over to my armor, eager to put it on and get back into a familiar routine.
"Just don't go and get hurt on me again, i would hate to have to carry you everywhere we go" she teased poking at my sides and giggling slightly.
"And miss out on all the flirting, i don't think so" i smiled back reaching around her waist and picking her up listening to her giggle and scream in surprise. After a few minutes of messing around we finally got serious and put our armor on making sure everything was still working and that nothing was broken. I put Silverscale on my back and relished the familiar weight on my back. I had almost forgotten about my prized blade, It had felt like a thousand years since i had been in my armor.
It still sported the gaping hole on the shoulder as i ran my hand over it i knew i would really have to watch this side. Once we got out of here we were going to run to another abandoned outpost and hopefully throw the Raknash off a bit. Even if we only bought enough time for a day or two it was all we would need to repair and resupply ourselves so we could get back to our main outpost and bunker down in case of another fight. Until then it was a game of cat and mouse and we along with the Raknash played on both sides of the game.
As the day lagged by we waited in full armor and on high alert for anything. Night was closing in and it was finally time to move, everything was still and quiet no cricket chirped and no native creature stirred.
