I didn't know what i was getting into, but i knew one way with or without me she was going to try and take out the entire division. So i slipped down from the tree i was in and hid in some bushes nearest to the guards, ready for her to strike so i can at least help her to cause some confusion and chaos in the ranks before they regrouped and attacked back. I dimmed down my helmet so i wouldn't blow my cover and waited for Tiger Fang to launch her offensive. I didn't have to wait long until the entire camp exploded in a fiery blaze. Wagons filled with armor, weapons, and food disintegrated as tents and other unsuspecting Raknash were eaten by the fiery oblivion that was now erupting all across the camp. Raknash dashed everywhere in a frantic horror as they had not been prepared for a ambush and their armor and weapons lay far beyond where they were. Immediately i launched myself at one of the Raknash guards and drove my daggers into his spine. He gave a slight grunt before he stiffened and fell to the ground. I stood over him and slit his throat just for good measure. Quickly I surveyed the the camp. fires were every where and the screams and moans of the dying were perfectly audible over the crackling of flames. I tried to spot Tiger Fang but had no luck, wherever she was I was sure she was safe. I ran through the rest of the Raknash ranks killing anyone in my path. As i neared the commanders tents i was suddenly surrounded by Raknash body guards. At first glance they looked unscathed, but at a closer look one could see the deep gashes on their legs and bruises on their arms. each had defined splatters of dried blood all over them. They closed in and i found myself in a position where it was kill or be killed. I couldn't help but smile as i leveled my daggers at my enemies and beckoned them to attack me.
It didn't take even a second for them to oblige my wishes as the Raknash bodyguards which were four in total charged me cutlasses drawn. I stepped back and braced for the impact as i took the charge head on. The Raknash crashed into me throwing me off balance and instantly swung from my mid section. I quickly countered by twisting my already falling body over the blade into a back flip with a corkscrew twist as they narrowly missed by inches. As i landed i lunged pushing off the ground with one foot and sped at the group as fast as i could. I embedded my daggers in the first Raknash's chest as his eyes widened with fear and realization. As his body fell backwards everything seemed to slow down. I pushed off of his body with my dominant leg which sped me up even faster and as i neared the other two Raknash they spread out in a side by side form to try and get me to speed past them. I quickly reacted and threw one of my daggers in the left ones neck hard enough that it nearly went straight through. as i passed by the second Raknash i slashed at his throat and was rewarded with a spray of green blood that painted almost my entire armor green. All this happened within a few short seconds but it felt like minutes had gone by. I caught myself as i landed on my knees and one foot. I stood up and forgot that there was one more Raknash i had to deal with. As i went to pick up my dagger from his fallen comrades throat it had finally struck me that there was four and i only had three dead bodies. As i turned around to search for the missing Raknash i suddenly felt a sharp pain go into my back and before i could blink my body was hurtling toward a tree. My body crashed into the tree with an agonizing thud as all the air in my lungs rushed out and i was left gasping on the ground.
As i clawed the ground slowly getting air back into my lungs the Raknash body guard lumbered over to me his scaly face contorted in a sharp toothed grin as he picked me up and threw me again. this time i busted through a burning cart and slid on the ground. I picked myself up looking for my daggers which lay twenty yards in front of me. I dashed for them as fast as i could but as i neared them a giant lizard fist came in and smashed right into my face ripping off my helmet and sending me in a backwards arch until gravity took over and i crashed into the dirt at his feet.
"I thought you would be so much more skilled than this" the Raknash chimed as he picked me up and threw me into the ground again. I again saw my daggers closer to me this time and made another mad dash for them but again was met with a fist this time to the gut which hit me so hard i flipped over his arm and crashed on my back.
"Come on human, fight me, give me a real challenge" he taunted. I finally had enough of this guys nonsense and slowly stood up and faced him. The Raknash smiled "finally" and drew his cutlass and pointed it at me "this is were you die legend " he hissed as he stared me down. I however had other plans, i reached behind me and drew silverscale.
"You know, these past few days i have been trying not to use this and still you leave me no choice. I think I'm getting rusty" i laughed as i leveled the blade at him. His eyes were steady but his stance showed fear and rage "try me" i mused as i let a big ignorant grin crawl across my face. The Raknash final lost his composure and roared as he charged he drawing back his arm in an obvious upward swing. As he executed the move i gracefully side stepped the slash and came close enough that my eyes were parallel to his. As he final realized his mistake i touched silverscale to his stomach and whispered "game over" as i then whipped the blade across his stomach in a straight line then spun around to watch as he stood there wide eyed. A few seconds later his stomach opened up and a huge ball of green slime spilled out of it as he organs and entrails plopped on the ground leaving him an empty husk. I turned and walked away still trying to find Tiger Fang. After what seemed like forever i found her coming out of the commanders tent not as hurt as i was but her armor did need a good coat of wax after this battle. I picked up my helmet and daggers and slowly walked up to her.
"You okay?" i asked as she slightly limped toward me.
"I've seen better days" she smiled as she stopped in front of me and looked me over. "Looks like you got hit by a freight train" she smirked.
"No, just went to get some frequent flier miles with one of my Raknash buddies" I mocked as she snickered and rolled her eyes at me.
"Well okay jungle jim lets get out of here before reinforcements arrive and we really are in a bad situation" she urged.
"Right behind you" i ushered as i let her take the lead and melted back into the forests as if nothing had even happened. It was night time when we got back to our little base. The turrets oscillated slowly scanning for enemies in the darkness. Once inside we both took showers and repaired our armor til it was almost brand new. I had less repairs than Tiger Fang which surprised me a lot. Even after the battles she had come out of it looking almost unscathed. After about an hour i found her in the medical room looking over her leg. She had apparently been close to one of the explosions and a chunk of debri had hit her right below the shin and took her out while she was tracking down the Raknash officer.
The leg was badly swollen and the area was already a deep purple bruise. Nothing was broken or fractured which was a good thing. But it would take a few weeks for the injury to heal so we were down a person if we had to go on a supply run. Until that leg was healed i was running the show all alone, just like it was before i met this amazingly dangerous woman. Once i got her back into bed and resting i went into the quarters that i had claimed as my own and after hanging up my armor and setting down my weapons safely away but still within arms reach did i plop down on the bed and pass out for the night. Letting my mind take over my dreams and guiding my next slumbering adventure if i had one.
