Isadora Rose:

"I did start a new category: 'Murderers we let go'. Look at that...you're winning."

"Do we really have to watch this shit?" Alessandro whispers from beside me as Mia and Tristan shush him for the fourth time in five minutes.

"Yes, we do and if you call this shit again I'm going to go feral, honey." I tell him in a slightly more hushed tone so to not bother the crazies sat in front of us.

When Mia came into my room asking if we could have a family movie night, I immediately agreed. We went out to get snacks, acquired the goods and even convinced some of Alessandro's men to take a break and watch tv with us.

It was a great idea in theory , but in reality we fucked ourselves. Of course the first thing Mia decided we should watch when in a room full of mobsters is a show about cops.

Alessandro was less than impressed when he got home since, not only had we accidentally disturbed his entire staff, this was taking place on the night I told him we could have a night to ourselves. I blame it on the pain meds the doctor's got me on.

"All I want is one night with my girl. Is that so much to ask?"

"I know and I'm sorry but-" I try to calm him down before Dante calls us out.

"Can you guys have your couples quarrel outside please? It's getting good and you're ruining the atmosphere."

"We are not quarreling and so what if we were. This is my damn house that you have all taken over." Alessandro argues back in a hushed tone.

"Just go outside." Tristan chimes in on the hushed debate.

My hand finds Alessandro's under the covers and I stand with his hand still in mine to drag him out the room.

He trails behind like a lost puppy and if he wasn't so frustrated by the circumstances I would've teased him about it, of course.

As soon as the door closes behind us both mine and Alessandro's shoulders let go of all that tension. I let of a breathy laugh as I look up at his scrunched up expression.

"This is not funny, Isadora."

"It's a little funny. I mean-" I stop mid sentence partly out of pity but also because I don't want to push any more of his buttons. He is very handsome when he's angry though. With the veins popping out- oh my.

"I'm sorry that I ruined our night."

"Come here." He mutters under his breath as he opens up his arms for me to walk into them.

Soon enough I am engulfed in Alessandro's arms with my head pressed into his chest. The feeling of his heart beating against my cheek is so oddly comforting that I find myself burying deeper into his hold.

"You feel that," he whispers just loud enough for me to hear but not so much that our friends eavesdropping on the other side of the door can hear, "that's my heart beating, for you."

Only then do I pull away to look this man is his eyes and I can see is look of pure seriousness. I search for any sign of mockery or teasing yet I come back to reality empty handed. His heart beats for me.

"After all we've been through, the least I can do is prove that to you. Let me show my girl much she means to me."

"I know that I-"

"No." He interrupts bluntly without a moment or hesitation.

"No?"

"No. There is no way you know how much you mean to me. My life revolves around your happiness, my state of mind is dependent on yours. So when I say my heart beats for you I mean that you are the one thing keeping me sane." His once firm voice cracks as he professes how deeply he feels for me.

There are no existent words that could be used to respond to that. All I can do is stare in pure admiration for the man stood in front of me. He is my person and there is no doubt about that.

"There are a million more reasons I could give you, but I know you can't focus on one subject for too long, so I'll quit the soppy shit."

"So, you're down bad for me, huh?" I tease, poking at his hard chest.

"So fucking bad." He mutters under his breath as the door flies open with a loud thud following the action.

Looking towards the commotion, I spot Tristan, Dante and Santiago all piled up on the ground like a damn hay stack.

"Oops." Santi groans as he rolls off of the pile leaving Tristan still splattered on poor Dante- Tristan weighs at least two hundred pounds so that can't be comfortable for him.

"What on god's green earth are you doing?" I ask them in slight disbelief at the sight.

"Just checking in." Dante attempts to cover up the abrupt entrance but even though it is blatantly obvious that these dumb asses were eavesdropping, or at least attempting to.

"Were you eavesdropping on us?"

"No-"

"Yes-"

"What-" they respond in unison. All I can do is look at them with a look only they could understand. It's the type of look that says 'why, just why'.

It worked well enough as they scrambled off the floor within seconds. Dante stares at the floor as he brushes off his clothes that are now covered in the glitter from Tristan's obnoxious sweater that I've been meaning to burn for years now.

"What did I tell you fucks? This is my house, so why are you spying on me and my girl. Give me one good reason why I shouldn't-" Alessandro berates the trio as looks of sheer embarrassment coat all of their faces, it's just pitiful at this point.

"I think they've had enough. Just go back inside, watch the show and stop being so weird." I usher them away and they quickly do so like the little scaredy-cats they are.

"You shouldn't be so harsh on them. They're your friends and they only mean well."

"Tristan is just about a friend, Dante is my colleague and Santiago is your brother ; I can be as harsh as I wish." Alessandro snaps back as he turns away from me thinking I can't see him rolling his eyes.

"Listen, I know you're annoyed about tonight and also because of now, but that doesn't mean you can be a prick about it."

"I'm sorry." He mutters under his breath, taking the fault since he knows he couldn't argue with me on this one. Not today, not tomorrow, not ever.

"I accept your apology. Now you've calmed down a bit, we can start discussing how I can make this up for you." I spot Alessandro's eyes light up with curiosity mixed with blatant lust at the thought.

"How would that go?"

"We should go away for a bit. Taking some time for the two of us could do us both a world of good."

"Oh I agree. Where did you have in mind?"

"Nowhere too far so if something bad happens-"

"Nothing bad will happen." Alessandro interrupts my probing.

"- if something bad happens, we can come right back. But also not too close so we can have our own space."

"If you're happy, I'm happy."

"I will be once you take me away to a beautiful place with a hot tub." I prompt knowing damn well Alessandro has already thought into it like I knew he would.

"A hot tub, oh really? What exactly are you planning for us, Miss Rose?" I go up on my tip toes for my nose to graze his cheek and lips brush his neck.

"You already know, angelito." I whisper softly into his ear before pushing off of him and walking back into the room, not before hearing Alessandro groan deeply to himself.

That's my boy, so responsive.
