After being arrested, escaping the jail cell, and being picked up by her mother, Micaela had decided to stay at her mother's house longer than usual. Darlene was being nicer than normal, and so far hadn't made Micaela sneak out and go to Leo's. That being said, she had been studying more than usual and her favorite part: not seeing Rory and Chase together as much as usual.
Without the star necklace in her pocket, she felt lighter. Though it was weird since it didn't even weight one single pound, she just felt like a huge weight was lifted from her. Yet that feeling didn't last when her eyes landed on two boys in particular, standing right beside one another.
"Hey, peeps." Leo greeted his brothers, Rory, and the new kid when him and Micaela reached them in the hall. Marcus, the new kid, held a guitar as he sat on the circle bench beside Adam. "What's the deal-io?"
"Hi." Marcus stood up, looking straight at Micaela as he held his hand out to shake her hand, his guitar in his other. "I'm Marcus."
On instinct, Micaela's face scrunched in disgust and rolled her eyes. The usual way she handled one-on-one conversations. Though when she walked away to have Leo stand in front of her, she began nervously pulling on her earlobe.
"I know." Leo took over the talking, making Marcus' smile disappear and his hand drop to his side. "We have gym together. And study hall. And also chemistry." The new kid continued looking at him in confusion. "We're lab partners."
"Oh. I..." Marcus tried to think, at least pretended to, "did not know that."
"How could you miss this pretty face right beside you?" Micaela questioned, holding up her hand, right under Leo's chin.
Marcus ignored the question and turned to the youngest Davenport. "Chase, you ever play guitar?"
"Yeah right." Micaela scoffed.
"No," Chase glared at her, "but I've always wanted to."
"Well, we're jammers as well." Leo pointed between him and Micaela. "My rocking is only eclipsed by my rolling."
"I don't play an instrument." Micaela muttered to him. But within seconds, her eyes went wide in realization and a smirk grew on her face. "I play every instrument."
"Leo, your mom said you played the clarinet for three weeks until you swallowed the reed." Chase pointed out.
"And Mick, you can't read music notes." Rory laughed loudly, holding his stomach as he did so.
"We passed it."
"Here, Chase." Marcus took his guitar strap off. "You wanna give it a go?"
"W-yeah-yeah. Sure." Chase grinned excitedly. "Why not?" Taking it in his hands, he took the time to scan the cords and strings with his bionic eye. Finding the right cords and hand placements was easy and he began playing-like a pro! He jumped from the bench to the floor as everyone except Micaela watched in surprise- the girl scoffing with a roll of her eyes.
