Early in the morning, Micaela had to get through two hours of sitting at Marcus' kitchen table while their parents were in some other room. Marcus' obnoxious smile boiled her blood as they sat across each other silently.
She just wanted to eat her fruity pebbles at Leo's house, not Marcus'. She wanted to meet up with Kaz, Oliver, and Leo at the Domain. But that wasn't until tomorrow.
Kaz assured her that it couldn't be too bad to spend just a few more hours with Marcus. And that she'll be able to leave and see him instead. So that's what she thought about to try and get herself through the awful two hours.
But it didn't help much. Just made the minutes seem longer. Every minute she thought about being with Marcus instead of Kaz felt like an hour.
"I'm glad we can finally have a talk without running into Leo or be around Leo." Marcus finally spoke up with his evil smile on his face. Micaela lowered her spoon from her mouth and back to her bowl with a death glare on her face.
"It helps build our friendship." The creepy boy continued.
"We don't have a friendship." Micaela uncomfortably shifted in her seat, pulling on her earlobe. She looked over the boy's shoulder to see if her mother was coming into the kitchen. If Darlene overheard her statement, she'd be getting a lecture.
"I guess it's okay if you don't see it yet." Marcus emphasized the 'yet'. "But we're gonna be spending a lot of time together. Might as well try to enjoy it."
"That's not possible." Micaela ate another spoonful of fruity pebbles.
A knock on the front door caught both of their attention.
"Thank goodness." Micaela sighed in relief. "Looks like you have to get that."
Marcus just smiled at her as he got up from his seat and left the kitchen. Now finished with her bowl of cereal, Micaela took out her phone and opened it. It had been opened to her and Kaz's messages, him being the last person she texted.
She really had nothing to tell him. Just wanted to reread through his reassuring message.
Then that's when a familiar voice caught her attention. From the direction of the front door.
"Me and Mick really have to study for this test." The voice informed Marcus at the door.
With furrowed brows and a small smile, Micaela rushed to her feet and towards the door. "Kaz?" She questioned, seeing the boy standing there with a book in his hand. He looked to her with a smile, which was returned.
Marcus raised his eyebrow, looking between the two. Then turned back to Kaz and grabbed the book from his hand. "Mighty Med course?" The boy read the title, holding the book out of Kaz's reach as he tried taking it back.
"It's an English lesson." Micaela walked up and snatched it away from him.
"Yeah, like you know..." Kaz walked into the house and stood behind the girl.
