As I lay in my dorm room, my mind slowly drifts into a realm of darkness. The unfamiliar walls surrounding me create a sense of uncertainty, leaving me lost in thought. I ponder the mysteries that linger around the shadows of the night, searching for answers to the questions that haunt my mind.

The still air of my new room is filled with a feeling of unease, creating a palpable tension. I feel as though I am being watched, though I am alone in my room, as my odd dormmate has flew to hers too. For the record, I am acutely aware of my solitude as I take in the pitch black walls, yet I remain undeterred in my pursuit for the answers that I so desperately seek.

"You'll be damned in here, Ruby. Without a doubt..." With a heavy sigh for how many times today, I monologued to my consciousness as I lie still, turbulent thoughts swirl beneath the surface of my dark and mysterious mind. It was as if though I try to keep my feelings hidden, the beating of my heart gives this scene away.

My eyes are closed, but who am I kidding — the facade of peace is merely an inch of my skin-deep, keeping me awake worse than ever.

While the lights of the old tower outside provide only a slight illumination, its twinkling in contrast to the shadows that fill the corners of the room, I watched for a second as its dim light casts its dark figure over my fingers, as I fumbled and played through it in vain to distract my mind.

Just then, in the brink of my reverie, as if to wake me up — my mind was taken away with a sudden, unexpected sound as if the oblivions made an echo of a radio being glitchy tuned up. Instinctively, I straightened in my seat, paused my actions, and listen up increasing my vigilance in that obscure moment as a rumbling echo of a microphone being picked up suddenly filled the air.

"Attention to the students of Rozbite Academy. The hour has come. Please make your way to the Institution's auditorium immediately. Follow the path of the moonlight, the humid air like a fog around you, until through the auditorium looms in the shadowy dunes. Dark and mysterious events have unfolded, which I have yet to make known to all of you. Come, seek answers to the questions that have been weighing on your minds. I will address your fears, answer your questions and make certain revelations that will leave your hearts pounding with anticipation. Be here soon, for the time will be short. I have a special announcement to make that will be sure to stir the darkness and ignite the mysteries of your unforgettable night. Your 13 minute trail starts now."

Beyond the walls of the academy, an ethereal whisper beckoned. The headmistress's evil siren-like voice coming over the loudspeakers, strangely muffled and distorted, traveled through the academy, announcing a gathering to a place I have yet to know.

Before I had time to decide whether I should heed the headmistress's order to come to the auditorium, an ominous knock at my chamber door reverberated through my room. I quickly realized then that it was a familiar voice slashing through the silence like an icy blade. It was my new dormmate's call —  Serene Lanthe, from behind the barrier, "Did you heard that? Our presence is required in there, newbie. Come outside quick, I'll lead the way."
