An Unexpected Gift

Chapter 14- 'Checking in'

"Girl! It's Christmas up in here hmm, it is GOR-GE-OUS!" It had been one month since I had last spoken to Dominic so I couldn't help the smile that came across my face.

"How's your vacation?" I asked as I slowly nibbled on a piece of my warm garlic bread with the package in full view, "It's Great, the place and people are amazing! We must take a business trip back here and Jackie is enjoying every moment of it. So on to you! How is life ma? Still, a virgin, met anyone new?" I rolled my eyes as if he could see, "No Dom! The office has been so busy!" I exclaimed. "Busy? What did something new develop while I was away?" he questioned "Nothing really! Yendi is filling in fine, still a bit rusty in some areas but...." before I could finish he interrupted "BUT I'll be back soon so that's good!" I couldn't help the chuckle "Oh my god, you're terrible Dom!!", "That's why you love me! So spill!! Anything else??" so demanding! "Well, a strange package came in" he once more interrupted "Oh, girl spill!!" I continued "I don't know, but it came with a call and the package itself is very expensive! It contained a black card too". "Wait!! A black card like fuck me money black card???" he seemed more excited than he needed to be, I had to remove the cell from my ears because there was now a sharp shrill on the next end, finally when he caught his breath he spoke, "Who is he?" I was shocked "He? I have no idea. It's an invite though." I now had an intense thinking look spread across my face. "Ma'am your bill?" I snapped back as my waiter appeared to hand me the cheque. "Dom I got to go!", "Ok bitch, see you on Monday! Kiss kiss!" the call disconnected.

I opened my purse and was stopped by a sudden realization, Today is the 9th, and the event is scheduled for the 10th. At least it was for a worthy cause, so it kind of made my decision a bit easier but the impending package still made a skeptic of me. Who in their right mind would send a random package complete with all these trimmings to someone without an explanation, I was again being drawn into a day when I was startled by the phone

"Hello?" I spoke steadily and softly "Hello Ms. Foster!" The voice on the other end was assertive. "You have a shopping appointment at Chaina's Boutique at 4 pm. The store will be closed for your convenience. Please use the card provided for ALL your purchases, you are free to purchase whatever you like without hassle. Also, we have selected an outfit for you to wear tomorrow, this outfit is a must. When it is done you will be hearing from us! Ms. Foster? Happy Shopping!"

I couldn't hide my inaudible gasp from my imagination as I mouthed the phrases shopping appointment and you will be hearing from us, I was still a bit confused. "The store will be closed for your shopping convenience" I stared at my cell phone and mouthed, "Who are you, people!!". "Here you go, Ms. Foster!", "Thank you" I mouthed to the waiter as I subconsciously checked my watch and gathered my things. Despite our arguments, I couldn't stay mad at Dom, we were way past petty squabbles and too grown to not understand life, it was the purest form of acceptance and Love.
