Courfeyrac walked the around the square with Améile, Grantaire and Lesgles. They stopped by the elephant. “Do you think this’ll work?” Améile doubted her own plan, her nerves getting to her. “Of course it will, you’re the one that thought of it!” Courfeyrac said nudging her, she smiled slightly but lot’s of doubts went through her head, what if the plan didn’t work? What if they got caught? What if someone got hurt? Joleigh walked over to them. "Are you sure you want to do this Amé? It could be dangerous?" she said putting a hand on her shoulder. Améile nodded. "I'll be fine..." Suddenly the door in the elephant opened and out came a small blonde boy that covered his dirty hair. “Gavourache what are you doing here?” Améile grabbed her little brother by his jacket. “I’m here to help, Couf told me all about the plan!” Améile glared at Courfeyrac who just gave a sheepish smile. “Gav, this might get dangerous! Please go home.” Améile bent down to look him in the eyes. “Amé, don’t worry, I’ll look after him.” Joleigh said putting his hand on her back. “Fine! But stay close.” She stood up again and looked around the square which was packed. “It’s time, everyone’s in position!” Lesgles said pointing to a spot by the bakers where Eponine, Marius, Combeferre and Enjolras stood. Lesgles then looked over to a Lamarque’s rooftop where Jean, Joly and Feuilly sat on the roof keeping an eye out. “And I can see him, I see Javert. And that bourgeois man and the blonde girl.”
Améile walked into the middle up to Javert. “Monsieur, as a man of the law don’t you think it’s time for change? You roam the streets everyday and see suffering everywhere?” at the same time Marius and Eponine walked up to the man who looked around 60 with brownish greyish hair, tall and very muscular. He was handing out money with a girl. Marius had never seen her up close but when he did he stopped dead in his tracks. “Marius, come on.” Eponine said harshly as he kept on staring at the girl, jealousy bubbling in her. “Monsieur, Madame if you wouldn’t mind we’re trying to rally the people, to help make France better.” Eponine said handing them a flier. Marius just stared at the blonde girl who was smiling at him. Eponine looked around the other boys had moved in handing out fliers shouting out at the forming crowd. There suddenly came a loud scream from somewhere in the crowd, Eponine recognized the scream it was Améile. “MARIUS! That was Améile!” she cried dragging him along.
“Please Monsieur Javert, I didn’t mean to offend you.” He held her wrist tightly. “You disrespected the State, you must learn the meaning of the law.” Grantaire ran to Améile who was trying to pull away from Javert. “Let go of her, your hurting her.” Grantaire grabbed Améile by her waist and pulled her out of his grasp. “Run! Go to the cafe” he whispered in her ear. Courfeyrac suddenly appeared by her side, he grabbed her hand and pulled her from the crowd. They ran out of the square, and to the café. While in the square the people listened, the people will rise.
They walked into the café, no one was back yet. “Are you okay?” he asked making her sit down on the chair. “I’m fine stop fussing.” She laughed. He looked at her with a confused expression on his face. “You want me to stop fussing, you nearly got arrested!” she laughed harder. “Don’t you see the plan worked. The people heard us, they will rise!” Courfeyrac smiled and sat down next to her. “Courfeyrac, sometimes you seem so… Do you need to tell me anything?” she put her hand on his knee and smiled. “I… I was just worried about you.” Courfeyrac couldn’t bring himself to tell her the truth. He was worried he wouldn’t get the answer he so dearly hoped for. She flashed her beautiful smile at him. “I’m fine.”
