The police filed into the warehouse after Joe had ceremoniously greeted them at the door,

"Well we really have it all under control-" He had insisted upon the cops, who had ignored him in favor of rushing the door he was standing in the middle of.

Forget the broken hand, Joe's pride was hurt more than anything else. He huffed in annoyance, before snagging a cop and asking about potential paramedics.

"Anyone seriously hurt?" The cop had asked, and Joe held up his hand,

"Just a broken hand. Maybe a concussion. But my friend inside has a nasty bruised rib."

And so the paramedics filed inside too.

Nancy and Frank had yet to move from their sitting position on the ground. Frank was still giving her smiles, and Nancy was still trying to pretend like she wasn't questioning everything. She reached for his cheek, running her thumb below the lip that had been split by Cedric's fist. Frank winced slightly, and Nancy immediately began to pull her hand away,

"Did I hurt you-?" She asked worriedly, before Frank was grabbing her wrist and putting it right back on his face.

"No. Believe me. I've never felt better." Nancy found herself blushing at how sincere he sounded.

"I'm just glad you're not hurt." Frank added. Nancy's heart felt so much whenever he said things like that. She got up onto her knees and kissed him on the nose,

"Same to you." Now Frank was blushing, and so Nancy smiled, satisfied.

Joe rolled his eyes at the couple as he directed the cops toward Cedric's unconscious body. He hurriedly explained what had happened, but the police ultimately decided they'd need more information down at the station. Joe nodded, and opted to tell Frank and Nancy once their little love fest was over. Besides, he really wanted his hand to be taken care of, so he followed Guy and a paramedic outside.

One of the paramedics, speaking of, approached Frank and Nancy.

"Are you two alright?" She asked, and Frank pointed to his lip,

"Got anything for a split lip?" He said with a cheeky smile that made said lip burn. The paramedic chuckled a bit, waving him toward the door. Frank stood, and helped Nancy up as well.

The two of them soon made it outside, where the moon was shining bright and the air was beginning to chill. Nancy instinctively hugged her arms at the feeling of it. Frank noticed, like he always did, and wrapped his own arm around her, pulled her closer so she was practically engulfed by him. When she looked back up at him, he gave her another smile, and she smiled too. It wasn't unlike all the other smiles she had shot at him in the last 15 minutes, because she just couldn't help but smile around him. It was only those same damn uncertain thoughts that kept creeping up in her head.

You should've brought it up this morning. Nancy thought to herself.

Yeah, I know but... She barely argued back, but the rest of the sentence still hung in her head anyway.

She didn't like to think that Frank doubted her, and if he confirmed those thoughts, where would that leave either of them?

But if she didn't bring it up soon, they'd be back where they started with miscommunications and heartbreak.

Nancy soon realized she had been staring at Frank's face too long. He looked like he wanted to say something, but she didn't ask what. She grabbed his arm that was around her and pushed him in the opposite direction. She hoped it came off as playful, but naturally he was still a bit surprised at the gesture.
