"You give me kind of love that I never had,"
Lia stole numerous glances at Ethan, worry covering her features as she saw him lost deep in thought. He hadn't talked to her about what was bothering him so much, minus the broad answer of 'Just family problems'. She was extremely worried about him, yet didn't want to come across as clingy or annoy him to where he didn't want to be around her anymore.
Little did she know, she could never do that. Ethan had spent the last month and a half in her presence, and it was as if ever since the day they met he had known he wanted her in his life for the rest of it. Nothing she could do or say could ever change the feelings he was developing for her, yet he was too afraid to try and show it due to the fucked up plan his family had in store for their friend group.
He felt like he was betraying everyone: Chad, Tara, and even Mindy and Anika. Whenever he would look at himself in the mirror, all he'd see was disgust. How would Ozzie, Amanda, Cleo, and especially Lia look at him when this was all over?
Part of him didn't care, knowing his fate was sealed. His father and sister were delusional if they really thought this plan might work. Sure, people will die along the way, but it always ends up the same. Ghostface buried six feet under.
Ethan didn't want to die. He didn't want to kill anyone. He wanted to live. He wanted to see his friends fall in love and have kids, as cheesy as it sounded. He wanted to not have to worry about the constant disappointment from his father, the way they look at him in disgust because he's nothing like them, nothing like Richie. He wanted to go to BBQs and dates and live a life where he didn't have to think about how it was all going to come crumbling down one day.
Lia's brows furrowed as she looked away from Ethan, glancing over at Ozzie who'd noticed just as well as she did that he'd been in a depressive state. He motioned a small finger to Ethan, his expression mirroring hers in worry. She just slightly shook her head at him, shrugging. He nodded in understanding, knowing she was still working on getting the boy to open up.
The giant friend group had been sat at Sam's apartment, and the only person missing was Jonah. He'd had somewhere to go with his twin sister Jenny, something he couldn't miss. That was okay, as this was a last-minute movie night.
"So the choices are now-" Chad held up two DVDs, "Mamma Mia! And High School Musical."
"Dear god, not Mamma Mia!" Amanda exclaimed, shoving her head in her hands. "It's a constant play at our place."
"Hey, it's a good movie," Lia spoke up, her thoughts drifting away from the boy sitting next to her.
"Amen to that!" Tatum exclaimed, offering Lia a high five. The redhead gladly took it, smiling in victory as someone had agreed with her.
"I'm not saying it's not, we just watch it all the time. Why are we watching a musical again?" She asked with a groan, "I'm more a fan of thrillers."
"Horror is where it's at," Mindy said, earning looks from her group of friends. "But unfortunately since we've starred in our own horror movie, that genre is off the table. Right."
