"My ear is buzzing, oh, I'm trapped no one's coming,"
"Miss Murphy your father strictly said-"
"Screw what he said!" Lia interrupted the nurse. She weaved her way through the multiple nurses and doctors who attempted to stop her from leaving, managing to get out of the hospital entrance safely.
Her body hurt like hell, but she made sure she took her pain medicine before Amanda got there. The stitches were very fresh, just like Ethan had said. But she'd rather take the chances in reopening her cuts over losing someone else.
She threw herself in the backseat, immediately earning looks from Amanda and Cleo. "What are you looking at? Get to the shrine for fuck's sake!" She exclaimed.
Amanda didn't hesitate and pressed her foot on the gas. Cleo watched as the elderly nurse stopped where the car previously sat, throwing her arms up in frustration.
"What was that?" She pointed back.
"I wasn't discharged," Lia spoke as she let out a deep breath. "Those nurses are very adamant for sure."
"Considering your dad was paying overtime for them to keep strict eyes on you, I would too." Amanda glanced in the rearview mirror. "Why the rush?"
"If we don't get to the shrine quick enough, everyone's going to die." Lia stared at the crumpled paper in her hands, her fingertips repeatedly moving over the words Ethan had slopped down.
"And what do you think you'll do?" Cleo asked, "No offense, but you're like half dead already."
"Cleo you can't just say that." Amanda reached over, slapping the other girl.
"Be realistic, Mandy, Lia's very hurt. Just running to the car put her out." Cleo motioned around.
"I'll be fine, I'm just worried about the others." Lia sighed, "How much longer?"
"Girl you were halfway across town," Amanda said. "I can only go so fast."
"Well, go faster," Lia responded as she sent another unread text to Ethan.
Amanda did the best she could, speeding through the New York traffic. She weaved through the cars, causing Cleo to cling to the handle on the roof.
"When we get there I need you guys to get as far away from the shrine as possible," Lia told the two girls, making sure the laces on her boots were tied tightly.
Just as she was about to pull her hands away, she noticed dried blood. These were the same boots she was wearing the night before when Ozzie and she were attacked. The blood had yet to be cleaned off of them, so she just lightly touched them with tears in her eyes as she remembered the events from before.
"Are you kidding me? You're not going in there alone." Cleo looked back at the girl.
"I can't lose anyone else, not to those monsters." Lia shook her head, "You guys are going to drop me off, and I'm going to find another way in while you guys find a way out of there, no excuses."
