⋆⋆⋆⋆Half an hour passed and Leon still hadn't awakened. The good news is that the bullet went clean through. His arm warmers were gone as were his elbow pads, revealing his muscles that had been hiding beneath the fabric of his uniform. Kelly watched him breathe at a steady pace while her leg crossed over the other. She rubbed her bare arms now that her jacket had left her back.
It's quiet in the area, except for a steady dripping of water from a leaking pipe. There's nothing down here with them... she hoped. It gave her time to be with her thoughts. One: It made her pay attention to how sore she felt. Everything ached if she rotated her torso or fidgeted with her fingers. Two: Somewhere far beyond Raccoon City was civilization. The things she would do to have carpet under her feet or to rest on a mattress instead of a chair. But most of all: to see her family again. They must be worried sick, she thought. Her communication with her parents ceased as soon as everything broke loose. Kelly sent them an email explaining what's been happening over the past few months. She didn't tell them everything per say, just enough info to keep them updated. That was a week ago. She couldn't imagine how scared they must be, that their only daughter was stuck in the middle of it all and they don't know what's going on or where she is, or if she's even alive.
Will she see them again?
Leon stirred in his place, bringing her back to the present. Kelly pushed herself off the wall, staring at him with expectancy to wake up. And he did. Slowly, his eyes opened. He seemed confused, looking around for something familiar. His eyes found Kelly, who gave him a smile.
"Hey there, rookie," she greeted.
"Kelly..."
He saw his bandaged arm, touching it gently. He didn't need to ask who had patched him up. Ada's trench coat rolled off his lap as he took his time getting to his feet.
"Where's Ada?" He asked while draping the coat over a pipe.
"She went after Annette," Kelly responded. Leon's hand grabbed his shoulder once more, diverting her eyes to the injury. "How's your shoulder?"
"It burns a little every time I move it, but it's a lot better."
She let out a relieved sigh. "Good. How about your other arm? Does it hurt?"
He scrunched his eyebrows. "No, it's fine. Why?"
To answer him, she punched his non-injured shoulder. Leon let out a little "ow" as his hand hovered above where she had hit him. He understood why she did that and met her stern expression.
