⋆⋆⋆⋆Does it ever get any easier? That's what Kelly kept repeating to herself. Her duty as a law enforcement officer had failed everyone who had once lived. But there had to be some reason behind this. Ada did mention some people, so that was good enough for Kelly. A good enough motivation to redeem herself as a protector—but mostly to avenge the innocent.
"Heard of the Umbrella Corporation?" Ada asked, opening the fenced gate to a back alley. "They're a pharmaceutical company secretly making bioweapons. They have a virus—it turns people into indestructible monsters."
"That explains the horrible things I've seen," Leon commented.
The trio headed for the construction site as a way to cross over the gaping hole in the road. The frame scaffold was secure enough to walk on, but there was no railing around it, so they had to be careful.
"And that's why I'm looking for Annette Birkin," Ada continued, "—She's the one at Umbrella responsible for unleashing the virus. I'm going to bring her down."
"Sounds good to me," Kelly confirmed.
Kelly and company crossed down a flight of stairs where a drop off met them at the end of the path. Ada went down first, then Leon, and Kelly to be the last. An opening to the sewer greeted them, waiting for the unsuspecting young adults to go in.
"This is how we get to Annette." Ada stood by the entrance with her casualty of folding her arms.
Leon made the next dialogue. "Based on what you've said, the sewer seems fitting."
"Well said." She motioned her head. "After you."
"Gee, thanks."
Leon moved to the sewer entrance, going further into the unknown. Now it was just the two women, silently waiting for one of them to follow in suit of the male officer.
"Are you waiting for an invitation?" Ada asked.
Kelly plastered an exaggerated smile and answered, "No, your majesty. Allow me."
Ada didn't sound offended or taken aback. She had that same nonchalant tone as she walked behind the detective. "You think you're funny?"
"No, of course not—I know I'm funny. In fact, I'm hilarious."
"Okay. Save your banter for the real bad guys."
