Emilia woke up shivering. She opened her eyes, barely remembering the events that took place when she was last awake. When she finally opened her eyes, she was in a hospital room. Music played softly in the background on an old radio. The room looked dim, like it was night out, but it didn't feel right, something was off about this place.

Slowly, Emilia climbed out of the bed. She heard a faint beeping noise, startling her. A moment later, a beautiful young nurse came into the room. "Good evening, ma'am." The nurse said kindly.

"Where am I?" Emilia asked. The radio stopped playing a song, a broadcaster announced Howard Stark and The Stark Expo. The man bragged about Howard showing off his flying car.

"Ma'am, you're in a hospital in Manhattan. Your chart says you attempted suicide." The nurse explained kindly.

Emilia's eyes darkened, glaring at the nurse. "Where am I really? I was at The Stark Expo when Howard showed off his stupid car, the car that didn't even fly. This is an old broadcast." She said sternly.

The nurse sighed, putting her hands up in surrender. "I just need you to listen to me." The nurse said kindly.

"Listen to you? You lied about my husband being alive, you drugged me, killed my baby that I didn't even know existed! You're Hydra, why the hell should I listen to you!" Emilia spat.

The nurse pulled out a gun, dropping her warm smile. Emilia kicked the nurse, stealing the gun from her while she was down and jumping out of the window. But the window just led indoors, like a warehouse. The lights were a painful, clinical white. Almost too bright, she could hear them humming as she ran down the halls. She finally saw a sign reading 'Exit' and darted out the door. A loud siren blaring as the doors opened. Emilia ran outside. She stopped dead in her tracks at the look of things. Strange cars, street lights every few feet, giant buildings and skyscrapers, billboards that seemed to move like television. People walking the streets with small electric devices against their ears or in their hands, staring at the small TV screen lighting up their faces. Nothing looked familiar, nothing looked like home. The street lights even felt different, brighter, taller.

"Mrs. Barnes!" She heard someone yell, turning around and pointing the gun at a very tall black man. He had on a long black coat, he had an eye patch and looked rather intimidating. "Put down the gun and I'll explain everything." He said calmly, but sternly.

"No! Explain everything now, maybe I'll put down the gun." Emilia countered. She stared down the man, several armed men surrounding her, pointing large black guns at her. They looked like AK's, but different, more sophisticated.

"At ease, soldiers. I can handle her." The black man said sternly to the guards closing in on her. They all stopped, lowering their weapons and heading away at the man's request.

"Emilia. May I call you Emilia?" The man asked, Emilia nodded.

"We found you abandoned in cryo at a Hydra base in Germany." The man explained. "You are in New York, we didn't lie about that. It's just not the New York you remember anymore." He explained.

"How about you make this really simple for me?" Emilia spat. She took a few steps towards the man, her gun still raised and pointed at him.

"Emilia, the year is 2009. You were frozen for almost 65 years." The man blurted out.

Emilia dropped the gun in shock, dropping to her knees as she stared up at the man. She missed her entire life, her parents were gone, probably thought she ran away with Bucky. The last thing she ever said to her mom was that she loved her and was going after Bucky, then she never returned. She wondered if Rebecca lived a long, happy life. She wondered if Rebecca was still alive.
