When Blossom swam out of the throne room, she was well aware of the stares from the SeaWings and SeaWing hybrids all around her. Her father had taught her Aquatic, so she could see what they had been flashing about. Blossom knew that she needed to know it anyway, if she was going to be an assassin, and assassins needed to know every language.
When Blossom was four, she only knew a couple sentences in Aquatic, like Hello, who should I kill?; Time to die, and I have done it. It was hard to speak Aquatic with only four dots that flashed, but she managed.
She swam past the dragonet wingery, which sent little dragonets squawking and then into a hushed quiet at the sight of her swimming past.
Blossom swam past the kitchen, and the queen's living quarters. When she exited out of the Deep Palace, she took off into the clear sky. Blossom took an enormous breath, and as she was in the sky, she could hear the wingbeats entwined with her own. Now Blossom was sure she was being followed, but she didn't know who was. Around her was blue, endless, endless blue.
If a dragon was following her, they would not be hard to see.
Occasional islands and pieces of land would pass by Blossom, but she paid them no mind. She only stopped if she needed to, since her bracelet would allow her to travel long distances without stopping.
Blossom's jade bracelet was enchanted to be very tough, but not indestructible, like obsidian. She had enchanted it to let her breathe underwater like a SeaWing, be able to fly long distances without tiring like a SkyWing, to be able to go days without sleeping. It also was enchanted to have almost instant healing, so if Blossom was damaged during assassin missions, she would heal almost instantly.
Small cuts, no problem. Gashes or large cuts, or a limb severed, longest is a minute. Once, Blossom had heard about an animus dragon that had enchanted himself to have the same power, but he had paid dearly for it. He lost everything, his family, his friends. Blossom couldn't really remember his name correctly, but she knew he was feared.
She could see an island near the shore of the Mud Kingdom, and she dove for it. She landed onto the island with a thump, her talons sinking into the sand on the sea-shore. It was quiet for a moment, as if the whole world had just stopped. She heard a thump behind her. Blossom turned her entire body red. She whipped around and unhinged her jaws to spit venom into the dragon's eyes, if it even was a dragon.
Blossom snarled, "Were you spying on me?"
It was a SilkWing. Blossom was shocked.
Why is she following me?
Is she here to kill me? a small part of her mind wandered. Blossom snorted. This is a SilkWing. They're "peaceful" butterfly dragons, and would never be able to kill a fly!
Why is she angry?
The SilkWing lashed her tail. Blossom could see the angry glint in her eyes. "RainWing!" She snarled. "Shouldn't you be in your rainforest with your stupid tribe?!"
Blossom looked shocked for a moment, before turning angry. Was this SilkWing blaming her?
"You might want to stop, before I attack you." "I can take you." The SilkWing snarled, and lashed her pink and red tail.
Blossom scoffed and took off into the air. She could see the angry SilkWing take off into the sky out of the corner of her eye. The SilkWing turned around and sent Blossom a glare, which Blossom stuck her tongue out at. Blossom flew for what felt like hours, the brown of the Mud Kingdom getting closer and closer. When Blossom touched down, finally, she could feel the mud squelch under her talons.
Blossom walked towards the Sky kingdom, and she took a running start into the sky. She could still hear wingbeats, but Blossom decided those must be MudWings and all the other tribes just flying around Pyrrhia. Blossom could start to see the mountain range of the Sky Kingdom.
She beat her wings quicker, and soon Blossom was soaring above the Sky Kingdom. She angled her wings right, headed directly for Jade Mountain, aiming for her target. Anemone had said that he had been there at the meeting; Blossom saw birds fly by her, and she glanced at a couple, getting a mouthful of feathers. Blossom watched the birds until they flew away from her. She could see the powder-snow-topped peak of Jade Mountain breaking the clouds. Dragons of all tribes, and colors, flew past her, all headed to one place.
Blossom could see some Pyrrhian and Pantalan dragons, but none looked like the pink-gold SilkWing Blossom had met earlier, near the Sea Kingdom. Blossom joined a couple RainWings flying, and she could see some send her confused looks. None asked her name, thankfully. She scanned the whole mountain before heading inside. None of the IceWings she bumped into looked like Silver, much less have any silver-like scales. She couldn't remember where the board that made written announcements was. Maybe down this hall? Blossom slowly walked down the hallway, the light globes bumping into her top scales. Blossom glanced at the walls, and peered into caves, looking for Silver.
Blossom sighted the board written with the information she needed. The board was black, ringed with white, and the winglet names of members were scratched in neat handwriting. They were in white ink, with a line saying, WELCOME, NEW STUDENTS!, with the list of winglets below the words. Silver was in the Gold Winglet; Blossom thought that he could have possibly been replacing another IceWing dragonet. She could faintly remember her mother talking about an IceWing that had abandoned her winglet, but that was many years ago.
His winglet's cave was located near her location, so she headed in that direction. When she reached his cave, Blossom took a deep breath, closing her eyes, and shifted her scales shades of gray and black to blend in with the stone walls. Blossom slowly creeped into the room, talons lightly scraping the floor, until she realized that he wasn't there. She would have heard the spikes along his back clattering softly if he had been.
She frowned and searched the room, half looking for him, and half searching for a stealthy place to hide; Blossom then realized she was being silly. Silver couldn't hide in any place without Blossom spotting his silver scales. Under the hammock seemed promising, but Blossom decided that if she hid under there, her talons would scrape the floor, and that would give away her position. A clattering sound startled Blossom. She froze, and listened, the only sound was the clattering sound. It was drawing nearer with every second. Then, for a moment, the catering stopped, then quickened, more loudly.
Blossom panicked when she heard it get closer. When she heard a sound entering the room, her eyes widened. Blossom had blown her cover as an assassin. Scccrrrrape. Serrated talons brushed against the floor, and spikes like icicles clattered and brushed against one another. Blossom could see Silver poke his head into the room, swiveling his head to search the room.
What is he hiding?....
Blossom realized that he had been hiding, lying in wait for her. Silver had come....to kill her.
