Eloise Pov

Wednesday is the day of the week that's halfway started and halfway over. I'm standing beside my Mom as the councilmen and media finally leave the castle. Today was hectic, to say the least. Lance and I went head to head about who is next in line for the throne. We're twins and even though he's a minute older than me that doesn't apply in the court so we had to hash it out.

Currently, he's glaring at me while Rina rubs his arm to try and calm him down. I don't care that I'm only doing this to get back at myself but a little part of me is actually wanting to be queen for another reason.

"I can't believe you Elosie." I lazily glance at my brother and cross my arms. "How could you take that from me? You knew I had wanted to be king for years. It's all I talked about for fucking years."

"So?" I push off the wall and make my way over to him "Who cares about what you want Lance because I don't."

"Elosie you don't have to be rude." I tilt my head at Rina and let out a dry laugh.

"Look, I'm not about to argue with you two boneheads about what I want to do. If you even cared a smidge about me today would've gone in a completely different direction, but no. You both decided two years ago to fuck me over. I mean do you two remember how shitty you made me feel? I cried for weeks over you two. Losing a lover and my best friend." I tilt my head a bit and smile as Lance frowns.

"I thought you would've forgiven us by now. As you can see we're happy together. Shouldn't you be happy for us?" Lance pleading for me to forgive him was something I knew would happen but it was about two years too late.

"No, and never will be. I can forgive you but believe me by the time I'm done with you both you'll feel exactly what I felt that night and every night after that." I take a step closer to both of them and for the first time, I see fear in Lances' eyes and hurt in Rinas. "I'm going to be queen and if I have to break your fucking legs to get me there I will. It's no longer your dream Lance, it's mine now."

It's about mid-afternoon now and I'm waiting for Evie to open her front door. I texted her as soon as I left the castle stating that I was coming over and that I needed someone to vent to. She agreed quickly and let me know that I could stay for dinner as well, as long as I didn't mind attending her family game night as well.

"Hi," I snap my head up and smile at her. I'm not sure what it is, but every time I see her my heart flutters. I think she has me under some kind of spell and it started when she smiled at me at the bookstore.

She has mismatched fuzzy socks on, and orange shorts paired with a thrifted orange farm t-shirt. Her hair is in its natural state, curly and falling onto her shoulders. I lean against the door frame as she smiles up at me.

"You are the prettiest girl in the world." I reach out and cup her cheek, rubbing my thumb against it. Her smile widens and a small giggle leaves her mouth.

"Thank you," She trails her eyes down my body before coming back to my face. "Would you like to change and then go to the backyard? You look pretty in your pants suit."

"Yes, please, lead the way, Angel." I blush at her compliment and she pulls me inside before closing the door and walking to her room. I follow behind her as she quickly takes us to her room.

I knew Evie was a colorful girl, and when I say that I mean she loves colors and she makes sure that I know. Her room is very bright and colorful but it goes together well. I smile at the pictures of her and her family lining one wall.

"Um, where's the bed and everything else?" I turn and look at her as she has her hand pressed against a glass door.

"The bed?" She raises an eyebrow at me. "I thought you'd at least take on a date before you try and touch me, but okay." I laugh before making my way over to her and pushing the door open.
