Eloise Pov
"Okay, we'll see you girls tomorrow for brunch!" I wave at our families as Evie and I pull off. The night was still young and I had so much planned for us when we got home. Every time I would glance over at her she would fidget around before relaxing but only once I looked away. She is so cute
"Are you going to feed me?" I raise an eyebrow at her and she rolls her eyes. "I know I just ate but that was literally a snack Eloise. I need a meal. I'm a growing woman!"
She smacks her hands against her thighs making them jiggle a bit. The guards in the front seat chuckle at her antics, it wasn't anything new to them. "Okay, drama queen. We'll be home in a few minutes." She flicks me off and begins digging through her purse for some gum I'm sure.
Whenever she got nervous she needed to have gum, strawberry gum to be exact. I don't blame her for being nervous. She had been on edge all week since I told her we needed to have a serious talk tonight. The talk wasn't big, I just wanted to propose to her. I need to throw her off a bit so she doesn't get an idea.
Nervousness rolls off of Evie as we pull up to the part of the castle that my family and I live in. I motion for her to get out before climbing out with her. Little complaints about how hungry she is leave her mouth as we make our way to the backyard towards the greenhouse. We come to a stop in front of the doors and Evie turns to glare at me as Henry passes me a few items.
"What's going on here?"
"Good luck Your Highness" A deep sigh leaves my mouth as I watch her fiddle around in her purse. A hungry Evie is not a friendly Evie.
"Pray for me, Henry"

"And then Emmy and her girlfriend were so pretty tonight. I mean I know we're an attractive couple but they are fucking beautiful." Evie giggles as she places her wine glass to her lips drinking the last bit."You said we needed to talk, but you've just been letting me talk your ear off."
"I just like to hear your voice baby" She blushes and I lean back in my chair before sitting up and staring at her. "Can I tell you how much I love you?"
"You know that's my love language...talk away."
"I spent a lot of my time reading during my hiatus and that's how I found your book on Instagram. I didn't even know who you were until I saw that Olive had commented on one of your posts threatening to report your account if you didn't call her back." Evie snorts and mumbles about how insane her friend was. I motion for her to sit beside me on the loveseat so we could continue our talk. "I found your actual account and I thought you were cute, then I met you and cute didn't define you as good. Bewitching would be the word for you. It was like you cast a spell on me." I smile as she mutters something about how her brother thought she was a witch once.
"Anyways, one of the books I read was about Heaven and how many people had different pictures of what it would look like. My grandparents told me their idea of Heaven is having their family there with them, living in peace and love. In turn, they asked me what my idea of Heaven was and at the time I had no Idea. I was so heartbroken and I felt so alone I just thought if there is a Heaven I hope to be alone when I get there." I scoot closer to her before pulling myself completely off the couch to kneel in front of her. Her eyes widen and she pushes herself further into the couch.
"Eloise."
"Then I fell in love with you. I woke up one morning to you jumping on my bed squealing about how I had to drive you to this bookshop across town because your favorite author was visiting and you had to get her to sign your books. At that moment, as mad as I was that you woke me up, I knew I loved you and my grandmothers' question popped into my head." I slide the box out of my pocket and glance up at her face. Tears begin to spill from her eyes as she watches me. "Now, Heaven could be anywhere as long as you're by my side. I'm crazy in love with you Evie Marie Dixon and I cannot imagine any life without you next to me, loving me, caring for me." I hold my hands out and open the box and her breath catches in her throat. The diamond ring glistens as the candle lights flicker around us. It was simple, beautiful, elegant, and screamed Evie when I picked it out. "Will you marry me?"
She closes her eyes for a few minutes and takes a few slow deep breaths. I knew she'd react like this so her sitting down had to be in the plan. Well, it was either that or she would pass out on me. Evie drops her face into her hands and starts sobbing while saying yes over and over again.
I take my time slipping the ring on her finger, while she glares at me the entire time. "Angel what?"
"You beat me to it again." She reaches into her purse and stops before side-eyeing me. "Close your eyes!"
"Yes ma'am. I'm sorry." I press my lips together to keep from laughing. I knew she was going to try and do it first. She's terrible at hiding surprises. Anyways, I decided to go ahead and push my proposal up because I wanted to show her that I wanted her in my life for good. She's doubted us before, and I know that if I hadn't done this first she would overthink herself into a coma.
"Okay open your eyes now." I blink a few times and smile softly as Evie bites her bottom lip. In her, the palm of her hand sits a velvet green box, no doubt holding a ring she spent days probably picking out for me. "I-I had a whole speech written down for this but I spilled juice in my other purse that was holding them and ruined it. I'm sorry." She glances up at me through her lashes and my heart squeezes at the sad look in her eyes.
"Oh baby, it's okay. How about you tell me what you can remember and I'll piece it together." I sit down next to her and she nods her head quickly. Such a cute baby.
"Well, I love you a lot and I know I overthink a lot and doubt a bunch, but you've been so patient with me." She sniffles and places the box on her lap before grabbing my hands in hers. "I know love and relationships aren't supposed to be easy. I've been told that my whole life, but the moment you smiled at me in the bookstore for some reason I felt like it would be easy. You've loved me and held me up at my worst, rooting for me when I was at the bottom."
"Evie" I choke back tears and squeeze her hands.
"I have never wanted a life with you so bad. Every night I pray that in our next life, we find each other again so that we can fall in love all over again. I love you Eloise Vestalis and I can't imagine being alive without you. Will you marry me too?"
"God, Evie. Yes!" She grins and slips the ring onto my finger before I pull her into a wet and heartfelt kiss. Her hands press against my thighs and a sigh leaves her lips. I smile against them before pulling away and smiling down at her. My thumb wipes away a few of her tears.
"It's you and I Evie"
"Always Your Highness."
