Me - we're just leaving now

Big Bronze - ok i'll let everyone know

"Do you have any idea where we're going?". Keira questioned me as we got into the chauffeur-driven car that Lucy had organised for us. Placing my seatbelt on, I replied, "Nope, she just said it's some sort of scavenger hunt and there's a surprise at the end". Keira let out a small laugh, "Any normal person would just book a restaurant or something, but I suppose it'll be fun". We pulled out of the driveway of our house in Manchester and I sighed, "It's a shame she's not here for New Year but I suppose she can't help it. Have you heard from her yet?".

The story was that Nike had asked Lucy and a few other footballers to open a brand new store in London exactly on midnight. We had even written a fake letter from "Nike" and posted it to our house. It may seem a bit over the top, but Keira needed to believe that Lucy was down in London while we were up here in Manchester. Lucy also told Keira that as an apology for her not being with us, she had organised a fun evening for us. So far, Keira was a little upset that Lucy wasn't here, but she didn't suspect everything. I knew that as soon as we reached our first destination of the evening , she would start to get a bit confused and suspicious. Thankfully, I have prepared what to say if she starts to ask questions.

My mum replied to me, "No...she's probably busy". I felt a bit bad for her. She probably thought that her girlfriend didn't want to spend any time with her, but really it's the complete opposite. Lucy was currently blowing up my phone with text messages, so I went to turn it on silent. Keira side-eyed me, "Who's that?". I quickly made something up, "Oh, erm...Matías. He's asking when we're going back to Barca". Seeming happy with my answer, she nodded and returned her gaze to the window.

Our fairly long journey consisted of driving through Manchester City Centre and joining some country roads which would lead us eventually to Burton-Upon-Trent. Due to it being winter, the sun had begun to set just as we were nearing the destination. I could tell Keira was getting restless, "Do you think we're going the wrong way?...Are we lost?...Are we nearly there?". Each time she asked a question, the driver looked up in his mirror and smiled at Keira - not giving anything away.

The breathtaking orangish sky projected a golden hour glow onto the fields we drove by making this night even more special. I don't think it would have been the same if it was raining or cloudy or even snowing. All the colours of the atmosphere above melted into one, making it simply irresistable. Of course, I took a picture and sent it to Leah who basically dedicates her life to her photo album full of sunset pictures. She sent back a photo of the sunset where she was and it looked very familiar. I had to stop the grin from creeping onto my face because if Keira saw, she would definitely know something's up.

We both climbed out of the car and stretched our bodies in the cool air after sitting for such a long time. The driver also got out and handed Keira a white envelope with her name on the front in gold writing. She appeared confused but opened it anyway, slightly skeptical. Immediately after reading, she passed it to me and began to jog into the building, clearly following the instructions. I already knew what it said, but I took a look anyway. Inside the envelope was also a room key which she had already taken, and the words

When I had finally caught up with Keira's sprinting, I asked breathlessly, "Which room is it?". She grinned and continued to speed-walk down the corridor, "240". When she reached the door, she stood back from it, unsure of what to do, "Do I go in?". I shrugged my shoulders, but she answered her own question before I could even speak. Holding the electronic room key up to the sensor on the door, it clicked open and she rushed in the room excitedly.
