A/N - writing books is weird, no motivation for weeks and then one random Thursday night I write a whole chapter in only a couple of hours

Rosie's POV:

"So RoRo, when's the wedding?". Patri asked me. Somewhere in the background, Mapi started singing row row row your boat. I couldn't help but crack a smile seeing how proud of herself she was that she had memorised the lyrics to a very simple nursery rhyme. I sighed deeply, "I have no idea, sometimes I forget they're even engaged. I think they'll probably begin planning after the World Cup". Mapi chimed into the conversation, "Ahh a beautiful Spanish wedding with me as their beautiful Spanish bridesmaid". Patri rolled her eyes, "You can keep dreaming Maria". Mapi frowned, "Just you watch Patricia, it will soon be a reality".

We were all packing our stuff away in the locker room after the final training session of the season. For three weeks we had worked intensely under the hot sun while more than half the team were in Australia with their national teams.

Jonatan knocked on the door before entering with a smile on his face, "Thank you for all your hardwork this season and I hope we can continue to be the best we can be next season. Take these few weeks off to rest and recover and I'll see you all for pre-season where undoubtedly there will be some new faces to include in our team". A short round of applause went round the locker room, all of us very thankful for some time off.

Turning to Mapi after Jonatan had left, I raised an eyebrow, "I'm guessing you know who's joining us next season?". Smirking towards me, she said as if it was obvious, "Of course I do, La Capitana is my best friend. No matter how hard she tries, she can't keep a secret like that from me". Widening my eyes, I begged Mapi, "Please tell me?...Please Mapi". The Spanish defender shook her head, "I can't, Alexia would kill me if she found out". I rolled my eyes, "She'll never find out, who am I going to tell?". Mapi crossed her arms, "Your mums who will tell the entire England team who will tell their friends who will ask Alexia if it's true". Okay she had a point. I would most definitely tell Lucy and Keira who would probably tell people at England, especially if this new signing played for an English club.

Mapi had taken on the role of looking after me very seriously. She had surprised me actually. The house was tidy, the fridge and cupboards were full of food, my clothes were clean, Narla was still alive. Mapi had gone above expectations in making sure that she looked after me and kept her promise of making sure I was safe and happy. The nearly three weeks of living with her had been very entertaining. Despite being a bit more sensible, she was still the same Mapi. The Mapi who could have fun at anytime anywhere. We had spent many nights having dance parties in the kitchen, but also watching films together. Just like me, someone she loved was on the other side of the world - her girlfriend Ingrid. It has hard, but we were getting through it together.

Every day we drove to training together, and every night we drove back. She took me out into Barcelona for drinks one night - even though we were both on diet cokes. I told her she could have an alcoholic drink if she wanted, but she insisted that she wanted to remain sober in case something happened. The atmosphere alone was enough to enjoy the night though. We went to the beach at the weekend, either on a dog walk or to go swimming in fresh sea water. Two evenings, we had been out for dinner in Barcelona, absorbing the Catalonian culture. Mapi had been my tour guide, showing me places that were completely hidden from the busy main streets. Throughout our time together, we had made sure to keep busy - whether that was inside the house or outside.

One of my favourite parts was the cooking and eating together at the end of a busy day. Since Mapi didn't know where anything was, I had to help her navigate around the whole house - specifically the kitchen. On the first night together, we went food shopping for basically everything we would need for the three weeks - Mapi surprised me with how prepared she was. Each night we would cook something from Spanish cuisine that I had never tried before. If the weather permitted, we would take our food outside and sit on the garden furniture to eat under the sunset painted across the sky. After, we would both clean the kitchen up with some upbeat music playing. Then we would take Narla for her evening walk, before both of us having a shower and watching a film together either downstairs, or in the guest room where Mapi was staying. Our daily routine had formed from the first day, and now it happened like clockwork.
