Before I Let You Go
I want to lie with you there where nobody else knows.
Let's share a stare at the daylight and its fading glow
And indulge with the evening glare as long as it shows.
Assure me you won't sleep until my eyes fall to a close.
There was no hint of sadness on her face when Jine started to write her Before I Let You Go list.
"Bago ko siya tuluyang kalimutan, sana magawa namin ang mga ito," she said to herself. She had the habit of talking to herself when she's alone which she was more often than not. But she's a strong girl.
In fact, she was wearing her most hopeful expression with her eyelids slightly covering her big brown eyes when she was looking on what she was writing. She's a lovely girl with her nose in its prettiest when her pale pink lips brought a beam and with her fairly youthful cheeks that she never let her long wavy black hair touch, thanks to her perfectly shaped ears on the hold.
She kept that hopeful face while she continued to write her Before I Let You Go list, sometimes pausing to picture how she and Calvin, her ex-boyfriend, would be if those on the list would be done, and whenever she paused, she smilingly sighed a sigh of a dreamer certain that what she's dreaming for would happen in time. And she believed that that time was just a heartbeat away. And so she ended her list with the words I'm missing you.
Having these final words on the list written, Jine heard someone knocking on the door of her condo unit. With the expression of her eyebrows, she was wondering who could be knocking on her door when no one knew where she lived after leaving her previous apartment near her school. The knocking was persistent, so she stood and opened the door.
"Calvin?" The name escaped her lips. Her eyes were fixed on his face, and her eyelids kept on closing and opening involuntarily as if they would like to validate that what they seemed to see was actually what they saw.
"Jine, pwedi ba akong pumasok," Calvin asked in his husky voice.
Ignoring Calvin's question, she replied with her own questions, "Paano mo nalamang dito na ako nakatira? Bakit ka nandito." She kept holding the doorknob unconsciously.
"Wala naman," he paused before he continued, "hindi, actually meron. I just felt you miss me." He answered her second question as if he knew she would not care about the answer to the first. By having a serious tone, he was as if trying so hard not to show how he felt for her, but his tantalizing black eyes expressed everything he kept inside.
Hi, dear readers! If you have more time, I really would like to hear from you, so I'm including a few questions after each chapter which I would really be glad if you'll answer. Enjoy reading! :)
Points for Analysis/Reflection
1. How do you think will Jine deal with letting go?
2. Under what conditions are you willing to let go?
