The next couple of weeks were exhausting for everyone. We had exams every day for a whole week, and the week after that we had so many tests and so much homework. I'm not sure why though.

On Wednesday, instead of walking home with Skie, mama picked up Ricky and I from school early. She said it was a serious emergency.

"Mama where are we going?" Ricky asked sounding scared.

"Don't worry about it. You'll see when we get there. But I don't want to worry you now." mama replied.

"Mama tell me the truth now." I demanded.

As I asked that, mama pulled the car over to the side of the road and looked at me.

"Want to know the truth Dana? Get out of the car." Mama said annoyingly. I did as I was told but I was scared I was in trouble.

"We're going to the hospital to say goodbye to Lila before she dies. Dr. Morrison called your father and I at home and told us she was going to die soon today. He apologized and told us he did everything he could to try and save her. Reid will make it though, because he didn't have it as bad as Lila, and he'll be there today too." mama explained.

I had nothing to say because I was extremely shocked. Lila was only 4 and this was as far as she was going to make it? I would lose my best friend, my little sister, my only sister!!! I curse the day she ever got cancer.

Mama looked at me in a strange way. Like she knew something was running through my mind. So she went back in the car. When she closed the driver seat door, I turned around and punched the car as hard as I could. No matter how much it hurt, I didn't care because I was too worried about Lila, and I know she went through too much pain.

I got back in the car, and mama drove as fast as she could to the hospital just to make sure Ricky and I could get to say goodbye.
