"We need to talk."

The smile immediately dropped from Riley's face.

This was going to be the hardest thing I'll ever have to do in my life, but I needed to do it. I needed to break up with Riley.

"We do?"

I nodded, squeezing her hands gently. "After this is all over, my car, okay?" I asked and she nodded slowly.

I dropped her hands and turned to face Adrian again, whose eyes told me to stop what I'm doing. But he doesn't understand.

No one does.

"Leon!" Ryan called. "The other guys are on FaceTime to congratulate you, come on!"

I walked over to Ryan and looked at his phone, getting greeted by Nate, Sky, and Lilly. "Congratulations, Leon!" they said in unison.

"Thank you, guys," I smiled, my mind still occupied with Riley. "I wish I could've invited you all, I'm sorry."

"It's fine, man," Nate said. "Ryan recorded your speech and sent it to us, you can hear Riles crying, though."

She cried?

"That speech was amazing, though!" Lilly said. "I almost cried and I wasn't even there."

I chuckled. "I'm glad you liked it," I said. Ryan's phone alerted him that he had 20% of battery left, which caused him to curse.

"We'll catch up later, guys. My phone's dying," Ryan said and the others gave a thumbs up. He then hung up the phone and looked over at me again. "I'm so proud of you, man. I'm so happy that you're part of my life, and I'm glad Riley's with you. She's in safe hands."

"So, what do you wanna talk about?" Riley asked, fiddling with her rings; a sign she was really nervous.

We were both sitting in my car in front of Riley's house. Addie got a ride with my parents and Ryan drove to Lilly's after the ceremony.

It was about seven thirty, but it was surprisingly quiet.

"You know, the past few weeks have really fucked me up," I started, staring straight ahead. "I witnessed one of my closest friends die right in front of my eyes."
