"do you believe in god" he asked her

"sure" she replied. it was a stupid question.

"really?"he asked surprised. a few seconds passed and she looked away from him, enjoying the heat of his face, but being too shy to face him.

"how can you? believe in him i mean?"

"I can't believe in people, i have to believe in something or i'd fall"

Matty turned his head to face her as she continued  to speak
"fall down through the cracks and never stop falling"

"do you believe in God?" she returned the question.
She  waited for his answer. Matty sighed and moved his eyes to look at the ceiling, sneaking a few glances at the picturesque girl next to him.

Matty let out a soft suppressed laugh before answering ,"No"

His answer had caused the girl to furrow her eyebrows in question.
"why not?"

"I'm an atheist" he answered.
"the worst of the worst"

The two bodies turned towards each other

Matty reached and moved a strand of hair away from her vision
"I'm going to hell Gracie"

"me too Matthew"

This has caused Matty to now express his confusion
"what have you done that's so bad?"

"sleeping with my brothers best mate and many other things"

"oh please ,love, let's be honest, we've both enjoyed this way too much"

The two went silent, only the sound of breathing and shivering filling the air. The room was warm, yet the darkness of the window prevented the two from getting any more warmth. Gracie got up and walked over to Matty, kneeling down by the bed .
She lifted the blanket up a bit and placed a hand on his leg. He noticed how cold it felt and decided to move closer to her.

She looked towards him.
"can I sleep here tonight?" she whispered
"i don't want to be alone"

She turned back to face the wall. Matty didn't understand why she was suddenly being shy, but figured it would all make sense tomorrow when they both had clearer heads.

"of course grace" he mumbled softly.

Gracie couldn't help but smile to herself. Matty really was the most sweetest guy ever. After she was finished changing into a shirt of Matty's, Gracie pulled the blankets over them and laid down beside him.

"Goodnight Matty" she whispered.

"goodnight Gracie" he responded in a low whisper. She laid her head on his chest and felt how hot he was.

They both dozed off  quickly, the events of the night still haunting their minds.
