Dusk to Dawn

Chapter 8

This is just my luck! I'm stuck in traffic on the highway, with my ex. I know what you're thinking, but no matter how much he begs, I'm not going back with him. He has crossed the line, I mean, he slept with Shantel. He slept with my #1 enemy. I still can't believe it. And we're stuck in traffic! As I was about to push my headphones in my ears, Joshua spoke.

"Can we talk, please?" he said innocently.

"We have nothing to talk about," I said with a lot of attitude. He tried to hold my hand, but I pulled away. Damn, why didn't I sit in the back? It's going to be so hard to ignore him and his cute face.

I pushed my headphones in my ears but then he pulled it back out.

"What is your problem?" I yelled at him. He then pulled me in and kissed me, but then I pulled away and slap him straight across his face.

"What is wrong with you?" I screamed. Thank God our windows were up; because I'm pretty sure lots of people would've heard us.

"I love you," he said while holding his face. I slapped him again.

"Ouch, what was that for?" he asked while holding the both sides of his face.

"For lying to me," I screamed as tears streamed from my eyes.

"But I do love you," he said looking at me with these puppy dog eyes. I still didn't care.

As I reached to slap him again, he grabbed my hand and said, "Stop! Please stop hitting me."

"Just let me ask you one thing," I said a little calmly now. The car in front of us moves up an inch and then Joshua moved up.

"Sure, anything," he said and then leaned back in his seat. I looked at him wondering if he was ready for my next question.

"How many times did you have sex with her?" I asked and then noticed that I caught him completely off guard.

"Only once," he answers like it was the easiest question he has ever been asked. Hmm, that was too easy.

"Ok, when?" I asked challenging him a little more. He looked at me a like he was uncomfortable then said,

"Sunday, we did it Sunday." I can't believe it!

"I can't believe you! Two days ago? Two days after we got back together and the day after you turned me and her into a blood sucking monster? Are you serious about your life Joshua?" I screamed at him as the traffic started to clear up and we started to move again.

"You were mad at me then because and I quote 'I turned you into a blood sucking monster' and plus she rose faster than you. You slept through a whole day," he said innocently. He was right; I was mad at him but that still didn't give him the right to cheat on me.

We were now less than one minute away from my house and couldn't stop thanking God enough.

"Baby, please don't be like this, I love you so much. We were hardly even together when Shantel and I did it. She doesn't even mean anything to me. You mean the world to me and you know that," he said as we pulled up in front my house.

Before I could respond to what he just said, he pulled me in and kissed me, but this time I didn't pull away. God I'm going to miss this boy, but we have lots of time on our hand before we could try this thing over again. We have forever.

After a few seconds I finally pulled away from him and said, "I'm sorry Joshua, but if we continue this relationship, things are never going to be the same between us. You need to show me that I could trust you again, but until then, I'm sorry. I just can't be with you anymore."
