Okay, hospital. I can get there before I bleed out. Definitely. Right? Wrong. 4 miles, staggering along like a zombie, does not look promising. I need an ambulance, or a car, something private. No questions being asked, no worried looks, no overreactions. It's not that bad anyway. Just broken ribs and nose, cuts and possibly a fractured skull. Oh Jesus. I pushed myself up gingerly, reaching my fingers to the back of my head to check the amount of blood. My fingers came back scarlet and I sighed raggedly. This is gonna be difficult. Opening the door silently, I crept out to the landing and peered over the bannister. He must have fallen down the stairs because he was lying face down at the bottom, still clutching a wrench and a bottle of vodka spilling onto the floor. I snuck back into my room and picked up a satchel, shoving in some makeshift bandages, a phone charger, phone, the mirror shard and the pair of drumsticks my mom gave me when I got my first drum set. I looked at them for a moment and sighed, letting one tear fall before shoving them in my bag and leaving my room. I took a deep breath at the top of the stairs and started to walk down, avoiding the creaky spots by habit from when I had to sneak down late at night just to get some food. The bastard starved me for days on end, until my hunger pains forced me to take action. I shook the memories away as I stepped over his arm. Gritting my teeth, I walked between his separated legs, trying not to fall on him as I balanced on one leg. Slowly, I twisted around on one foot so that I was facing forward, making it easier for me to avoid the rest of his awkwardly angled body. I made it across and breathed out in relief, but stopped quickly; his legs were stopping the door from opening wide enough, not wide enough for me to fit through. Of fucking course - even when he's passed out he's a pain in the ass.
