Andy

I could feel myself speaking, but I couldn't her what I was saying. All I was focusing on were her eyes, beautifully blue, big and bright, her best feature. They were glistening with tears, shining like stars. Her eyes were framed with long dark streaks of mascara, the traces of earlier tears. She had a sad look on her face as she smiled at me one last time before turning away and taking that step. That one step that took her off the edge of the building and away from me forever.

I screamed. I wanted to look over the edge, to believe that she was okay, she was standing down there, smiling up at me and laughing. But I knew that wasn't the case. I collapsed to my knees, my forehead resting on the cool ground. I stayed there for a while, listening to the screech of the sirens as they came to collect the broken pieces. Some of them were me.
