such a worst timing for the rain to pour down the streets. the roads are slippery, and you're using your bag as a hood to protect your vision from the rain. otherwise you might have slipped with your eyes full of the rain water, which you actually did a few times. but you kept going and stand up, looking for the answer you're seeking.

after a harsh struggle you've gone through, you finally arrived in front of her house. you stand in front of her house's gate for a second, a moment later realizing it's still raining hard you knock on the door.

it took whoever is going to get the door a few seconds. you heard a faint 'coming' followed up by footsteps. the front door is soon opened.

"oh [name] dear! what were you doing out in the rain? you might have catch a cold!"

you were greeted with the warm 'welcome' from her mom, telling you to come inside. you sat on the couch while the older woman get you a towel for you.

few minutes later, she came back with a dry towel and a steaming warm cup of tea she just happen to brew.

"here you go, dear. dry yourself up with this towel, don't forget to drink this up too."

"thank you ma'am–" you sneezed halfway talking, wrapping the towel around your neck as you drink on the warm tea, sighing in relief.

"i haven't seen you for days. usually you'd always come here everyday."

you look down slightly and spoke, "actually, that's why im coming here... i wanted to know why is she avoiding me..."

the older woman raises an eyebrow at this.

"avoiding you?"

"yes... she didn't told me why." you tightly grip on the mug, gritting your teeth anxiously.

"ena's in her room upstairs, you should probably go settle things with her now..."

getting the green light from her mom is enough for you to go talk to her, although it also worries you when she said she's being angry everyday.

"thank you."

you went upstairs and knock on her door, not receiving any respond after knocking a few times. this time, you decide to knock harder. you heard groaning on the other side followed by footsteps.

the door opened, revealing the brown haired who seems to just woke up from her sleep.

"i told you to not bother me, akito–" her sentence stopped midway when she realizes it was you. her sleepiness slowly leaving, she plaster an unreadable face before she crosses her arms.

"why are you here?"

"i thought i always come here to see you?" you question the obvious as she huffs and was about to close the door, until you stop her and get inside her room.

"i want to talk. we have to talk."

she doesn't say a thing and went back to lay down on her bed, now scrolling through her phone as if you don't exist.

you can only look at her, sitting beside her bed.

"ena, communication is key... you can always tell me what's bothering your mind." you start, crossing your legs together while saying so.

"i have nothing to tell you."

"then why are you acting like this to me?" you recall the moment where you saw her ignoring you last week when you greeted her in school.

yet the answer you're waiting for never come out from her mouth, she's only giving you the silent treatment, leaving you stuck wondering if you did something wrong to upset her.

"don't make this difficult, ena. i won't know what's wrong if you don't tell me. im not a mind reader, you know." you face her, now she's being difficult to you. there's time where she's being difficult, but not like this. this is another level of being hard to understand to you.

"you won't understand."

"then i'll try to understand. come on we can get through this." you approach her and hold both her hands, now sitting on her bed. she still has the frown on her face from before, and her frown deepens even more when she notices your wet hair.

"don't get on my bed. your hair's still wet– wait did you come here in the rain?"

you nod, looking into her eyes.

"get down. i don't want my bed to smell musty and bad–"

"come on, you're changing the topic! answer me and tell me what's wrong!" you yell in frustration, gripping her hands tightly, now she's getting into your nerves.

in surprise she yells back, "you're holding me back!" you back away slightly, also surprised by her sudden outburst.

she yanks your grip away and backs away from you, as if you just did something nasty.

"what do you mean–"

"you won't understand! the way your praises always makes me happy... but deep down it's not what i wanted!" ena balls her fist tightly, tears are threatening to fall, then she slap your cheek.

you stand up and hold your cheek where she slapped you, looking at her in disbelief.

"i wanted to be the better artist, so my father can finally acknowledge me as a talented daughter! but with you... with you here, always giving me what i have wanted... it feels like my effort is a waste!" ena throws her pillow at you in anger, you could hear her voice trembles everytime she spoke with tears.

"ena–"

"just shut up! i told you won't understand! you're just stopping me from improving! your compliments are holding me back from improving!"

"im not trying to hold you back! i just wanted to make you happy because your father can't!"

"i don't always need compliments! i also need criticism to improve! if you always tell me that my drawings are amazing, how will i know if im improving?!"

she wipe her tears away and decided for herself, that this is the best for her.

"i want a break up."
