To say the next few years were... a struggle would an understatement. All the bonding albus and Amelia had done was down the drain.
Amelia never fully forgave Albus for letting Grindelwald leave. Albus tried and tried but she lost her friend too that day.
Amelia was playing at Hogwarts, she did quite enjoy Hogwarts. It had become her second home. She liked that she basically ran the place, at least in her little mind she did.
Amelia was fond of the slytherins, no doubt in her mind she was going to placed in Slytherin when she attended next year. She was in the library, poking around the restricted section when she bumped into an older student, he stared down at her curiously.
She looked too little to be a first year. Amelia smiled up at him and he saw such innocence in those eyes.
"Hi I'm Amelia." Tom stared down at her. "And you are?"
"Tom Riddle." He answered.
"Riddle, so you like riddles?" Amelia pondered.
"No." Tom answered. "I dont actually."
"Me either," Amelia said with a shrug. "Like just tell me the answer already." Tom chuckled kneeling in front of Amelia.
"What's your last name?"
"Dumbledore." She answered with a groan.
"Ah, you are headmaster Albus, daughter." Tom realized.
"Yes but don't tell anyone, I don't need that kind of reputation going around before I start at Hogwarts." Amelia informed him honestly. "I start next year. Im ten!"
"What kind of reputation is that?" Tom pondered curiously. Clearly she wasnt a big fan of Albus he was intrigued to know why.
"That I'm a good girl." Amelia answered as though it was obvious.
"And you are a bad girl?" Tom pondered.
"I'm trouble," Amelia agreed. "But the best kind," she assured.
"I like you Amelia."
"As you should im wonderful!" Amelia agreed.
"I think you and I are going to be good friends Amelia."
"What year are you in?" Amelia questioned.
"I have one more year next year." Tom answered.
"We can be buddies." Amelia agreed.
"We can be."
Amelia was so excited for that day to come.
She spent most of her time at Hogwarts in the Slytherin common room. She loved being in slytherin. She knew she would get placed there. She wished her uncle Grindelwald was here though, he always made everything better.
"Why are you hanging around pipsqueak?" Antonin Dolohov questioned.
"He has good tastes." Amelia sassed as she sat on the table. Tom chuckled patting her knee.
"Listen kid-" Antonin began but Tom silenced him.
"Amelia is right. She is my new friend. I have taken her under my wing." Tom answered.
"I think I took you under my wing, because I'm cooler than you." Amelia informed him. Tom chuckled nodding.
"You have fun today?" Albus questioned. Amelia nodded sitting beside him in their chambers. "I'm glad, I hardly saw you, you were with your new friends?"
"Yeah. Tom." Amelia agreed.
"Tom who?" Albus countered cautiously.
"Riddle, but he doesnt like Riddles." Amelia informed him. Albus gave a small chuckle.
"Shall we make supper?" Albus questioned. "What are you in the mood for?"
"Pizza." Amelia answered getting out the dough whacking the container against the counter, it popped to life. Albus set the oven as Amelia put her apron on.
"Mushrooms?"
"And spinach." She agreed tossing the spinach into the pan. She watched it shrivel down to nothingness before Albus put in the chopped mushrooms. ALbus loved this. He loved cooking with her. Albus hoped that his Amelia would have a second chance at a new future together. Since Grindelwald's disappearance Amelia had been so moody but Hogwarts had seemed to bring her to life again. He hoped Tom riddle didnt corrupt his little girl towards mayhem.
Albus looked to Amelia spearing out the tomato sauce. She drew it on elegantly. She hummed a little tune before dumping the cheese all over.
Amelia smiled at Albus and his worries about her new friends faded. Amelia was a good girl at heart, she was just pushed in all the wrong directions. He was going to keep her on the right track.
Amelia jumped on the couch as the pizza cooked, Albus sat beside her, paperwork in his lap. Amelia crawled across him grabbing her book before draping her legs over his. Her head propped up on the arm rest of the chair, crossing her ankles over her each other.
"Amelia." Albus whispered patting her shin. She looked back at him. "I'm so glad you are here."
"Me to dad." Amelia agreed when the timer dinged and she jumped up launching off the back of the couch. "It's ready!" She shouted.
"Oven mitts!" ALbus called chasing after her.
