44. Fortress

"You are pregnant." Albus realized. Amelia met his gaze. "Oh Honey-"

"Don't." Amelia countered.

"Come to Hogwarts, please, I have been asking for years Amelia... I want us to try again, please," Albus begged reaching out for her. "What better start than with a baby coming. I will be a grandsire."

"I... will think about it." Amelia agreed.

"Might I ask, its probably too forward," Albus admitted. "But who is the father?" Amelia blinked back at him and that told him everything he needed to know. She didn't know.

Amelia didn't know who the father was.

Severus was thrilled when he realized what amelia was going through, it took a lot of convincing and investigating to figure it out. But If this was his child then he could get the chance to be a father. To do it right. Lucius didn't like that she didn't answer his proposal. If it was his child even more the reason to marry him. Even if it wasn't he still wanted her and the babe. She loved them both they had been doing this for so long that amelia never thought about a world that it wasn't the three of them. But a baby would change things.

Amelia was surprised, really surprised when the men started babying her, she didn't understand until she realized they knew. How the hell did they know? They held doors open for her and were gentle instead of rough in bed. Amelia grumbled and grumbled moving to Draco. He would still treat her normally.

"I'm really excited about going to Hogwarts." Draco told her. "But I'm really nervous too." Amelia kissing his temple.

"Amelia," Severus took her hands in his. She smiled taking a step closer. "I look at you and my heart pounds, when for years, I don't think it beat at all. You fill the cracks and crevices, take away the emptiness. And when you're not by my side, the loss is unimaginable." Amelia blushed "I love that you get cold when it's 71 degrees out. I love how you organize your books and your office. I love how you make sure my storeroom is in perfect condition all the labels facing forward when you visit. I love that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you're looking at me like I'm nuts. I love that after I spend the day with you, I can still smell your perfume on my clothes. And I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible."

"Oh Severus," Amelia breathed back.

"Excuse me, Master Severus?" Dobby came in.

"Not now." Severus breathed back the ring was burning a hold in his pocket.

"It was delivered urgently." Dobby cut in. Severus gave a stiff sigh. He grumbled turning to Dobby.

"To be continued." Amelia offered kissing him. Severus nodded heading off. It wasn't long after Severus left that Lucius came to her. He dismissed Draco and pulled Amelia to the pond, candles lit elegantly. Champagne at the table, she picked up a glass glancing to Lucius.

"What's the occasion?" Amelia questioned.

"Amelia, I have loved you for a lifetime." Lucius remarked.

"I love you, and I will love you until I die, and if there's a life after that, I'll love you then."

"Harry potter is alive and well. Harry potter is starting at howarts," Albus told Severus. "I need Amelia here. Danger is lurking and she is the key to keeping it away."

"You want  me to tell Amelia she needs to come to hogwarts because my dear dead friend's long lost son is coming?" Severus scoffed.

"I know it doesn't make sense." Albus assured." But trust me."

"It's just an excuse to get here, a lame excuse might I add. I want her here. I want her here with me instead of Lucius." Severus assured him.

"Tell them Harry Potter has returned. See how they act." Severus came back to Amelia to see Lucius down on one knee proposing. Severus froze before he spoke up.

"Amelia." He croaked out. Lucius looked murderous. "The urgent news, Harry Potter is alive." Just like that their fortress had cracked. All of Tom Riddles work seemed to be falling apart.  Amelia looked to Lucius on one knee and noticed the ring in severus pocket. She touched her stomach, her world was changing and she didn't like change. Amelia swallowed the lump in her throat moving to Severus.

"He's going to be in danger." She realized. "My father will turn Hogwarts into a fortress to protect him." Severus nodded. "And he asked you to convince me to come back?"

"I love you Amelia. I want you with me. I want..." he held out his own ring for her. "I want you to marry me."
