【Ｃｈａｐｔｅｒ １０】

-10:30 pm-

I fastened my steps as the feeling of a stalker didn't stop. I heard someone else fasten their steps too. Thinking I might just be hallucinating I stopped walking. To my surprise the sound of footsteps didn't stop. I took out my keys and held it between my fingers and started walking. The presence felt closer and closer as I walked until someone tapped my shoulder. My reflexes were fast enough for me to immediately turn around and hit him with those keys. Well almost. I immediately realised who it was.

"J-jake-?"

He froze on the spot as the keys were inches away from his face. I took my hand back at that instant.

"What are you doing here-"

He was still in shock.

"It's not safe for you to walk alone at this hour, so I wanted to accompany you. I didn't expect to almost get killed by you"

"I'm so sorry I thought it was a stalker or some-"

Jake cut her off "It's fine, let's get going"

He started walking and so did I. I felt so embarrassed and had my head low. It was awkward between us. I decided to break the silence and spoke up.

"Thank you for accompanying me, but isn't it too late. You should be sleeping by now"

"It's fine, I sleep late anyways. Plus it's so much fun"

Fun?

"Fun?"

I asked.

"Yeah, I love late night walks and with a friend it's just a hundred times better"
"Look at the moon shining so bright, the cool breeze, the trees slightly shaking to the wind causing the leaves to brush against eachother, nothing's better than these"

Hearing his words I looked up. The moon indeed was shining so bright, it was pretty. I stopped to take a look at it clearly. Jake stopped along with me too. I looked at him to see that he was looking at the moon too. His eyes were sparkling as the moonlight shined on them. It made him look even more handsome. I looked back up at the moon when a drop of water fell on my cheeks. One drop soon turned into tons and it started raining.

"Shit I don't have an umbrella with me-"

I looked at Jake to see if he had one with him. Neither did he. I was about to run when he held my hand stopping me from doing so.

"It's too risky to run, the roads are slippery. Let's walk"

He said calmly getting soaked in the rain. He still didn't let go of my hand.
I looked at him.

"You don't wanna get drenched do you?"

I nodded causing him to giggle. He removed his denim jacket and put it over my head.

"I know it's of no use, but atleast you'll be safe for a while"

He said and let go of my hand. Both of us started walking carefully as it was raining heavily. We don't know when we might slip and fall. As we walked I noticed him taking small glances at me. He giggled everytime after taking a glance.

"I look funny don't I?"

"Kinda" he replied laughing.

I scoffed and continued walking, faster than him now.

"Hey I was joking"

He was faster too to reach my pace. I increased mine to the point where both of us started running with me in the front. Jake accidentally stepped on mud and slipped falling on his knees. I immediately turned around and ran up to him.
