-YE-EUN'S HOUSE-

-6:00 PM-

I clicked on Jake's message to read it further. It led me to his chat.

Jake : Ye-eunah
Jake : I found something.
Jake : You should see this.
Jake : //attachment:03jpg.AsLosJfd://

Na Ye-eun : What is it-?

Jake : See the picture, you'll know.

Na Ye-eun : Is it safe?

Jake : Yeah it is, don't worry.

I was glad. I clicked on the attachment to view the picture.

Who is she..?

I didn't expect to see a picture of a little girl. To be more specific, it looked like a three year old posing cutely at the camera.

Her eyes...

They looked...not so happy. Her eyes looked worn out, and forced. Her face felt oddly familiar, like I've seen her before. Her face looked like the younger version of someone I knew, someone I know.

I took a screenshot of that attachment just in case before leaving the tab. I got into Jake's chat again to message him about it.

Na Ye-eun : Jake...who is that?

Jake : Kang Nara

KANG NARA?! WHY HER.

Na Ye-eun : W-why would you send me a picture of her? Like, is there a reason?

Jake : I may or may not have found out about her past.

Na Ye-eun : What does her past have to do anything with me or this picture? I don't get it.

Jake : She was abused as a child.

What the heck..

I didn't know what to reply. I for sure didn't like Kang Nara but hearing this broke my heart into pieces. A bad guy or not, she was a child after all, and no child deserves to be abused. I stood there, shocked. Until I got another notification.

Jake : And I believe that's why she's a bully now, feeding off of other people's pain.

Na Ye-eun : Can you, explain to me in detail? I don't get it.

*Jake is typing...*

I waited patiently for the explanation patiently. I didn't know what to think or how to think without further context. I stayed neutral at that moment breathing in and out to calm myself down.

*ting*

I finally received the message after minutes of waiting. I opened it to read a huge paragraph that Jake sent explaining the whole thing.

Jake : Kang Nara's mom used her for clout. She posted pictures of Nara on the internet to gain popularity. As a child Nara didn't know or understand much about it but as she grew older she didn't like her pictures being taken. Everyday her mom would dress her up in uncomfortable clothes for pictures. If I'm sure she even faked a few incidents on Nara's life to guilt trap people into thinking they're innocent way often. And for more attention of course. People pay more attention to negative posts than positive ones and they took it to their advantage faking stuff. Every time Nara disagreed with her mom she got hit. Being brought up without a father since birth she didn't know how to fight back for herself or whom to rant it out to. Nara got abused for a simple matter like clout.

I was dismayed reading that. I never would've expected that Nara had a traumatic childhood behind that beautiful and happy face of hers. I felt disturbed. It's not like I haven't heard of such cases before but knowing that it happened to my own friend made me more depressed.
