【Ｃｈａｐｔｅｒ ２２】

-8:00 AM-

-Ilwon High School-

Ye-eun entered the school like a happy little girl, not caring about the issue. She was early after all, there was no body to question her yet. Sunghoon had arrived first as usual, followed by Ye-eun who arrived minutes after he did. She noticed that he was busy writing something in his notebook and didn't acknowledge Ye-eun's presence yet. She didn't think much of it and walked closer to Sunghoon, taking a seat at her desk which was in front of Sunghoon's.

"Hey there! Watcha doing??"

She asked, smiling widely waiting for his reply. He lifted his head up to take a glance at her and immediately put his head back down. She felt uneasy about the whole situation. His gaze was cold, unlike usual. He didn't care that his best friend had arrived, not greeting her, or even looking at her for a second.

"Sunghoon?"

She called him only for him to not reply, again.

I tried tapping his shoulder but was caught by her wrist mid way in the air.

"S-sunghoon?"

She panicked at his angered gaze on her.

"What's wrong-?"

She asked him, clearly not knowing the reason why he suddenly gave her a cold shoulder.

Sunghoon scoffed sarcastically at her innocence.

"Not gonna lie, you're good at pretending"

"Sunghoon, I need context. What is this about?"

She calmly questioned him.

"Pfft, wow"

"Sunghoon..."

He yeeted her hand away from his grip startling her for a second.

"What's the chat about, Ye-eun"

He finally got to the point..

"W-what chat-?"

"Oh don't you dare act all innocent here Na Ye-eun. You do know what I'm talking about"

Ye-eun sighed closing her eyes. Sunghoon patiently waited for her to answer.

"Yes I do."

"Why didn't you tell me about it?"

"Because I didn't want you suffering knowing the shit they talked about you"

"Why'd you start such a rumor if you didn't want me to suffer?"

"What do you mean Sunghoon?"

Ye-eun was genuinely confused this time.

"Ye-eun, be truthful with me for once. Please"

"Sunghoon, I am not lying. I truly don't know what you're talking about"

"So you're telling me you didn't spread the rumours?"

He raised a brow.

"Why would I do that? You're my friend. Even if you weren't, I would get myself in trouble too if I did so. Why would I do that to myself?"

She has a point too.

"Ah-"

Sunghoon paused, not knowing what to reply. It felt like he falsely accused his best friend. He felt guilty for doing so. He held his head low not knowing how to face her after accusing her for such wrong doings. Ye-eun is an angel after all.

"Ye-eun.."

He called out but by the time he did she was long gone. Students filled the class one by one.
