"Hmm, it is quite interesting." Sharp says as he holds up my necklace, the family heirloom passed down from my mother.
"Do you think it contains ancient magic?" I ask him, leaning against one of the potion tables.
I haven't seen Sharp since he asked to be my guardian, due to the break. There isn't much conversation that is needed after. He and I share a bond that doesn't need to be spoken out loud. The idea alone of opening up to him or getting emotional is awkward enough for me to never want to.
"Quite possibly, with the way it reacts to you when you wear it. You said you can feel it?" Sharp hands the necklace back to me.
I unclasp the necklace and wrap the silver chain around my neck, closing it in the back.
I look down at the pendant, the weight of it presses against my skin. It communicates with my magic, spreading across my chest.
"I can definitely feel that." I look back up at Sharp who is watching it intently. "If it has any magical properties, and ancient magic at that, would that mean.."
"That the magic runs through your bloodline? Perhaps. It was your mother's necklace. So that would most likely mean that she possessed the same abilities as you and Felix." Sharp and I sit there for a moment in silence, contemplating the possibilities.
"There is.. a vault." I begin to say. Sebastian and I had agreed to drop the subject for now, while things were cooling off between us.
"A vault? At Gringotts?" Sharp asks me.
I nod my head in agreement. "Felix had said it was left for him, could contain family heirlooms."
"Then it's worth paying a visit, don't you think Y/n?" Sharp asks me. I know he doesn't need a yes or no answer, it would be the smart thing to do. He wants to make sure I understand that.
"Yes.. it would be." I answer. I'm only hoping this won't cause another problem between Sebastian and I.
"You and Felix should plan the trip to take together. Give me just a moment." Sharp walks to his office, then returns with a satchel in his hands. He tosses it at me and I catch it with no hesitation in both of my hands. "Good to know your reflexes haven't digressed since our last training session. Speaking of which, now that classes are starting back up again I expect to start training with you and Felix."
"What is this?" I ask him, holding up the small velvet bag.
Sharp clears his throat. "I didn't forget your present for the Holiday." I stare at him in disbelief, I wasn't expecting this at all. I'm suddenly feeling horrible because I did not think to get him anything in return. "Well, go on. Don't keep an old man like me waiting." Sharp really isn't that old, but I get what he's saying.
I untie the bag and pull the opening apart. "I don't see anything?"
"It is enchanted. It holds more than you think, reach your hand inside." I hesitate, then slip my hand through the opening. There's open space, then I feel galleons. Loads of them. My eyes shoot wide open.
"I can't accept this." I pull out my hand and close the bag securely, then shoot my hand forward to hand it back to him. Sharp reaches out his weathered hand and pushes it back to me.
"Nonsense, I am your guardian now. You will be taken care of as promised. I trust that you'll put it to good use, school supplies, ingredients, clothing, whatever it is a teenage girl should, erm- need."
"Th-" I start to say to him.
"One more thing." He holds out a small key. "You should have access to my private Manor. We'll be conducting our training there from now on, and feel free to come and go as you please."
