This chapter is in Felix's POV. He is such a sweet brother and I wanted to pave a pathway for him, after everything they've been through. I hope you all like it. Y/n's POV returns next chapter. Thank you for reading <3
Felix POV
My back is leaned up against the wall as I sit on the floor of the library. My legs are outstretched, and a head rests on top of them. The brown hair belonging to the girl before me is splayed out behind her. The bangs normally framing her face are falling to the sides of it. As she lies on her back, a book floats in the air above her allowing her to read without holding it up with her arms for too long.
I'm supposed to be reading my own book, yet I keep glancing over the top of my page to look at her eyes. They're open wide, slowing moving side to side as she reads each line in her story. Her hands are resting one on top of the other over her stomach, and legs crossed over each other. I could sit here and pay attention to every little detail of her for hours. The way her lips are slightly parted, revealing only a bit of her teeth. The way her chest rises and falls so calmly, quietly. The way her eyes widen a little, or squint, in reaction to whatever she is reading.
We've spent most of our days like this, doing separate things, together. There's a silence between us, yet one that is always comfortable. Either that, or we're sharing bits and pieces of our lives with each other. Both past and what we hope for our future. I wouldn't mind sharing many more days like this together.
It is an extremely new feeling to grow this close to someone. I've been with a few girls before during our travels, but those were only brief and merely physical interactions. Never anything more. So to be this close to a girl, to share these intimate feelings is both captivating and terrifying. I don't ever want it to stop.
"Anne.." I say softly at her.
She doesn't look away from her book as she responds. "Yes?" I've heard her yell at Pretty Boy countless times, but her voice is always soft spoken towards me. She's the only person that has ever offered me that kind of gentle affection.
I'm quiet for a moment. Feelings are not my area of expertise, making expressing them that much more difficult. I typically choose to not show them very much instead. Anne's head turns over to look in my direction, her eyes looking up at me, waiting for my response.
"Would you come with me back to the Manor?" I ask her plainly. She slowly lifts her head from my legs, a hollowed out feeling left behind in its space.
"Of course I can. What is the reason?" She asks, her body twisting towards me as she rests her weight with one hand beside her on the ground. I reach out my arm to place my hand on hers, and rub a soothing stroke over the top of it. Her cheeks blush, my favorite sight. She moves her head down to look at our hands resting together, then eyes look back up at me, questioning me.
"There's something I want to show you there, I think you'll enjoy it." I'm already sure she'll say yes, but it is rather nice to ask her and see her mind working.
"When shall we go?" She smiles at me, filling my body with warmth. I ponder her question, we really have nothing going on at the moment. Classes haven't quite started yet after the break. We still have a New Year dance to go to, to which we will be going to together. We haven't actually spoken of it yet with each other. With Anne though, it is just known that we do things together. She understands what I'm thinking most of the time, without me having to speak at all.
"We can go.. this evening? Before supper." An idea pops into my head.
"Felix, that's in about 2 hours." Anne says.
"Perfect. Then we shall get ready, you'll want to wear warm clothes. We're going to pay Hades a visit." I smile at her, and she smiles back. She's grown rather fond of my loyal thestral. The reason he is visible to her is not something that brings joy to my mind, but it is nice to be able to share him with her.
