The news about Duke Crescendo spread to the whole estate. Everyone was excited to see him again. Like he was already part of the family. Everyone had their dreamy and hopeful eyes while looking at me. The only nervous lot were Portia, Adam, and myself.

I can barely eat and drink during dinner because of nervousness. I am afraid to meet him this early.

I am scared to see his expression upon seeing me.

Will he be disgusted again? Will he despise me? Or will he accept me and adore me again like everyone expected? I don't know the answer.

My brother tried to reassure me that whatever happened, he always got my back. Na walang mawawala sakin kahit ano pa ang maging reaksyon at desisyon ni Duke Crescendo. His words calmed me down for a bit before I started to overthink again.

At the moment, we're both sitting on the couch, Gabriel reading some documents he needs to revise and me with a book on one hand but haven't gotten past the previous page yet.

The silence is peaceful, yet I wonder if I should break it?

"Uh... Gabriel?"

Looking up from his document, Gabriel looks over at me while his hand lands on the page to mark his spot again. His eyes soften as one of his eyebrows raises in a small smile.

"Mm?" he says, as he puts down the document on his lap while he tilts his head at me. "What is it, little one?"

"I was wondering if I can walk around the mansion tomorrow? With the Duke Crescendo... I think I'll be needing some air when I talk to him. But with some supervision, of course!" Agad kong bigkas.

"Hm... Do you want to go out?" He says with an amused smile. "Yeah, sure, Amaury. But just know I'm always watching!" he says with a smirk.

He stands up and walks over to me, stopping just next to the couch with his hands in the pockets of his pants and his smile still present on his face.

"Sure... but I won't really do anything. I just want to walk with him and have a breather. And also I'm thinking, maybe one place in this mansion will trigger some of my memories lost."

Hearing me say this, Gabriel takes a moment to think before he nods. He squats a little to meet me at eye level with a gentle smile on his face.

"Of course.. If that'll help, why not? If you need anything or have any questions, then I'm always available too, Amaury." He says and stands back up.

I suddenly feel a little bit better knowing that I can reach out to him for any reason and that he is always there for me if anything happens.

"This mansion is really huge. I didn't expect to come from a rich household." Pag iiba ko ng topic.

Looking at me again, Gabriel's expression changes from his earlier compassionate to one of amusement. He chuckles and smiles at me, placing a hand on the other on the back of the couch next to me.

"Yeah, I suppose it is. Kaya hindi mo kailangan ng kung sino man para maging maluwag ang pamumuhay mo Amaury. Kaya kitang buhayin. Not literally okay? I'm not Lucas, who can bring you back to life." He tried to joke, and I giggle a little. What a dark humor.

Matapos ang ilang segundo, tumikhim siya at muling sumeryoso. "And as your brother, it's my duty to watch over and protect you, so that's why you are staying here too. I hope you understand." he explains, his eyes soft.

"I don't mind, Gabriel. I really appreciate you helping me too to recover my memories. Having amnesia sucks."

He looks at me with a somber smile, giving me a small nod.
