Kabanata 11
Chase
Foot steps keep on echoing outside my bedroom door.
I lay on my bed, looking at my ceiling.
She's here... again.
Smiling... again.
"Come here, Amaury." I said to her.
She stood a few meters away from my bed. Smiling like she's having the best time of her life.
"Please..." My voice broke as I looked at her.
She didn't move.
"I'm so lost, Amaury."
I put my arms on my eyes and close my eyes. Even in darkness, all I can see is her.
"It's lonely without you beside me."
Despite every power I gained, all my prowess is for nothing when it comes to you, Amaury. It crumbles as easily as he does with politics.
I was once feared and respected throughout the kingdoms, something I prided over. But I searched for years to fill the gap that politics cannot temper. Anywhere I look, I yearn for you. Anywhere I stayed, I longed for your presence.
Battle and manipulation is my forte, but it's love that brings me down.
You make me weak, Amaury.
You make me unable to function.
Still, I still hope for you to be here... to go after you as time ticks. The thrill of chase is more prominent than any battle.
I sat down on my bed. I rested my head on the headboard and looked at her.
I returned her smiling lips with a gentle smile.
"I am surrendering to desperation, Amaury. Even if it's a small chance... I wanted to see you. I want... you."

The dining hall was a bit chaotic while we're eating breakfast.
I was sitted on the right side of the table while Abel and Portia were on the opposite side. Gabriel sighed as he looked at his pouting but adorable son.
"Why can't I play with our horses?"
I bit my lip to smile myself from grinning. No matter how hard I try to be serious, I just find Abel's baby talking so damn adorable.
"Abel, we only have one healer in here, and she's attending your Aunt Amaury. She's also sick. What would happen when you got ill while playing on the stables? The healer will use her powers to you, and she won't be able to attend to your aunt's needs. Is that really okay with you?"
I softly gazed at my brother, who was speaking seriously to Abel. His expression is tough, but his voice is calm and gentle. I'm pretty sure he's making sure that Abel would understand his point without forcing his authority on the child.
"I don't want to harm, Aunt Amaury... but it's been so long since I've seen Luca." Abel's eyes were watering, but he held it and silently sob.
"My child," Gabriel stood up and went to Abel's chair.
Portia took a step back to give space to him. He reached out his hand.
"We will visit Luca next time. How about I play with you today? I'll be with you until the sun sets. Would that be alright, Abel?"
I saw a flicker of excitement on Abel's eyes, but it quickly died down after a few seconds.
"...no. I'm sorry, Papa. Abel will just stay on his room and rest. I don't want to play anymore."
