Kabanata 7
Siblings
My dreams aren't dreams anymore.
It feels like it was a play that keeps on repeating every performance. But the only audience is me. The play is only for me.
The man in my dreams, whom I started to call Dale Crescendo dela Fleur, started to walk towards me. His intense gaze from his grey eyes burned me. Like I am trapped in a cage for him to collect.
"Let's go home..."
I can hear myself laugh. I am laughing. I am having fun.
Is this just a dream? Or is this part of my memory?
When I woke up, there's no Lucas beside me. No one shaking my shoulders just to stop me from screaming. But I knew I'm still crying. My face was wet, and my eyes still stings.
The sun had just risen. I watch as it slowly lit my whole chamber. I have been asleep for 2 days since my last fit. It was the worst one so far, according to Lucas. I was shivering, cold sweats running down my body, the mark on my chest swelling so bad that he had to press his palm and fingers on it so he could heal me.
He said that I would be okay.
That I will be okay.
Am I okay?
Am I really okay?
When I heard the first bell, I stood up and changed into my outer dress. I stopped in front of the mirror. I touched the mark on my body. It is smaller now compared to the first time I saw it. Hindi na nga din kasing itim katulad noon. It seems like a mark of dirt that could be washed after soaking in the water.
Nang makapunta sa cathedral hall para mag alay ng kaunting dasal napansin ko ang iilang tao na nag uusap-usap. They seem excited. Sa gawing hagdaan nandoon si Lucas. His back is facing me while talking to someone...
I gasped after seeing the crimson hair that stood proudly in contrast to Lucas black hair. There was a small child clinging on his shoulder while holding a tulip.
That boy was the one who was running on the Clerebold estate last time. He saw me looking at him, and he immediately whispered on to Lord Clerebold's ear. Now, the three of them, even Lucas, are looking at my way. Nag lakad ako papalapit sakanila para bumati. Ibinaba ni Lord Clerebold ang bata muli sa pagkakabuhat kaya mabilis itong tumakbo papalapit sakin.
He handed the tulip to me and smiled, "I am Abew Whysand Hewondale Cuweybowd."
I gave a soft chuckle because on how he pronounced his name. I didn't understand. It's a good thing his father immediately repeated his name.
"His name is Abel Rhysand Herondale Clerebold. He's turning 4 years old this spring. And I'm Noah Gabriel Clerebold, his father. I didn't get the chance to introduce myself properly last time."
I smiled and nodded, "I am..." I wanted to introduce myself to him, but he held his hand upright to stop me.
"Renee, right?" He asked, I simply nodded as an answer.
"Huh?!" Abel exclaimed, "That's not right. You're my Auntie Amaury!" Pointing at me.
Auntie?
I'm his Auntie Amaury?
Who's Amaury?
I felt my head ringing. Isang nakakabinging tunog ang dumaloy sa tenga ko. I winch and stagger to stand up. Lucas held my arms to steady me.
"I'm sorry. I'm okay... I'm okay. I just felt a little bit lighthearted earlier."
I heard him sigh, "You're not having a black out?" He asked me.
