14 -meeting Mrs Barnes Pt 2

Rose's pov

Today I'm meeting James' ma. I had gone out to get some flowers yesterday, which I had placed in water overnight. I am now getting ready, I put on the dress which I had made using the fabric which James had suggested. I slipped on some flats, Howard was at the office today working on some of his projects.

When I told him about meeting Mrs Barnes he was happy for me, he hoped it goes well. James has told me how much Rebecca likes me and that his ma is looking forward to seeing him.

I leave the house to begin to walk to his, as I'm walking I feel nervous. I just want to make a good impression as I really like James, he makes me happy and feel safe.

Buckys pov

Today rose is coming over to me ma. When I told ma about rose she instantly said to invite her for tea. Rebecca had told ma about Rose too, how lovely she was.

I was in the kitchen with Ma, I was icing the chocolate cake whilst ma was making some sandwiches, we are having some elderflower cordial with it. I'm feeling nervous as this is the first time having a girl over to meet Ma. 'You okay James?' Ma asks me as I'm washing up 'I'm so nervous Ma, what if it all goes wrong' I say turning to face her. 'James, from what you and Rebecca have told me, she loves you' ma says.

'I'm going to get ready ma' I say 'okay james' ma replies. I walk into my bedroom laying out a fresh shirt on my bed with some trousers, I went into the bathroom to freshen up before getting changed. I glance at the clock it's almost time when Rose is arriving, I'm still feeling nervous, like I have butterflies.

I head downstairs to meet ma, we sat in the living room with Rebecca.

Rose's pov.

I am nearly at James' I feel so nervous, the sun is shining and the birds are singing.

I begin to walk up the path to his house, I knock on the door. The door opens.

'Hi Doll' James says smiling. He looked so handsome in his shirt, 'welcome in' he says holding out his hand. He leads me inside before closing the door 'you look beautiful doll' James says smiling. 'Is that?' He asked referring to the fabric 'yes it. The one you liked' I say smiling. 'May I?' James asks smiling 'you may' I reply smiling. James leans down to give me a gentle kiss on the lips. It felt like fireworks 'amazing' we both say in unison smiling.

'Ready to meet ma?'  James asks 'I am James' I reply. James holds out his hand for me to take and he leads me into the livingroom where his Ma and Rebecca are.

'Ma, this is Rose' James says standing beside me with his arm around my waist 'lovely to meet you Mrs Barnes' I say holding my hand out 'these are for you' I say 'lovely to meet you Rose, please call me Ma. Thank you for the flowers' ma says. She puts the flowers on the table before pulling me in for a hug.

Ma's pov

James just went to answer the door, Rebecca and I can hear some of what he's saying and I can see Rebecca smiling.

Ma, this is Rose' James says standing beside a beautiful young lady with his arm around her waist 'lovely to meet you Mrs Barnes' Rose say holding her hand out 'these are for you' she says 'lovely to meet you Rose, please call me Ma. Thank you for the flowers' i reply, she's so polite. I place the flowers on the table before pulling her in for a hug.

I can see why James likes her, they both make each other happy.

Buckys pov

There was a knock at the door, I get up to answer and Rose was there wearing a beautiful white and blue polka dot dress, it looks like the fabric I had pointed out to her.

'Hi Doll' I say smiling. 'welcome in' I say holding out my hand. I leads her inside before closing the door 'you look beautiful doll' I say whilst smiling smiling. 'Is that?' 'Shall we have some tea?' Ma asks 'yes please' we all answer, I lead Rose into the kitchen, when we get there I pull out a chair for her before moving to sit next to her, on the table we had the sandwiches, elderflower cordial and the chocolate cake I made. Ma and Rebecca join us at the table. 'This looks delicious Ma' Rose says 'thank you Rose, please help yourselves' ma says.

I pass Rose the plate with sandwiches so she could put some on her plate, I then pass the plate to Rebecca and ma before helping myself.

Rose's pov

James leads me into the kitchen where the dinner table has sandwiches, elderflower cordial and in the middle a chocolate cake.

James pulls out the chair for me, he pushes it in before sitting next to me, 'This looks delicious Ma' I say 'thank you Rose, please help yourselves' ma says. James  passes ne the plate with sandwiches so I could put some on her plate, he then pass the plate to Rebecca and ma before helping himself, such a gentleman .

'So tell me about yourself Rose' ma says 'how did you and James meet' ma asks. 'I met James one lunchtime at school, I was sat on a picnic bench working on some sketches when him and Steve came over to introduce themselves. I was working on a concept sketch which Howard my brother had set me a brief on' I say.

'At the end of the day I was on my way to meet Howard at our office when I was Beaten up by some people in my class. James came to my rescue, he wanted to get me cleaned up but I said I had to get to meet howard' I say smiling at James. 'He came with me to Howard, who thought it was James who did it to me until I explained. James told Howard he understood how he felt as he feels the same towards Rebecca'

Buckys pov

Ma asked Rose how we met, I could see her smiling the whole time, seeing her smile makes me happy. 'We spend lunch times together, we meet up at weekends too, we have a cafe where we all meet.' Rose says. 'You have a wonderful son Ma' Rose says smiling. 'Thank you Rose, I can see why James likes you' ma replies smiling, I see Rose blushing.

'Time for cake' ma says 'James if you'll do the honours' ma says handing me the knife to cut the cake. I slice the cake passing a slice to Rose, Rebecca and ma before myself.

'This cake is delicious ma thank you' rose says 'thank you Rose.' Ma say 'it James you should thank, he made it' ma says smiling. Rose turns to face me 'you made it?' Rose asks me smiling 'I did doll, I know you like chocolate cake' I replied smiling 'well, I have a favourite chocolate cake now' Rose replies smiling.

We spend the next hour chatting, talking about memories until it was time for Rose to head home. She said goodbye to Ma and Rebecca, both who said she would have to come over again.

'Can I walk you home?' I ask. 'You can' she replies smiling. I let ma know before  wrapping my arm around her waist. 'Thank you for today' rose says 'it was truly wonderful' she continues. 'My pleasure Doll, I'm happy you have enjoyed today.'

We chat as we walk to her home. When we reach her door we turn to face each other, 'thank you Jamie' Rose say 'I love you' she says 'my pleasure Rose, I love to too doll' I say smiling before leaning in to kiss her lips. I pull her in for a hug 'I'll see you monday' I say kissing her forehead, 'see you Monday Jamie' Rose replies before she opens the door 'have a good night James' she says smiling 'you  to doll' I reply before she closes the door and I walk home.
