Robin Hood, that young yeoman in Lincoln green,
Whose fingers were fit as a fiddle and lean,
Whose eyes were observant, whose arrow was keen,
A gallant hero none in England had seen.
He plundered the wealthy again and again,
Banded in the thickets with his merry men,
Upheld his skill as an archer and swordsman,
Thwarted the sheriff and tyrant sovereign,
Held a special veneration for women,
And married his sweetheart, fair Maid Marian.
