CHAPTER 11

  Monday, The Byers House, 7:30 am

"I'm here loser <3"  Will looked down at his phone, reading the text from Mike, noticing the little heart at the end. He smiled and replied, "Be down in a sec <3" and walked into El's room. "Mike's here." He smiled. "You can go downstairs I have to find something. I'll be down in a minute." She smiled. "Okay, We'll be out front." He said, walking down the stairs, saying goodbye to his mom and dad on the way out. "Hey." Will said, closing the door. Mike looked up from his phone and smiled, "Hi." 

"El will be down in a sec, she has to find something." Will explained. "That's fine, school doesn't start for like another 15 minutes anyway." Mike said. "How long is the walk?" Will asked, tilting his head. "Like five minutes, It's literally right down the street." Mike laughed. "Are you excited to meet the party?" Mike asked, looking back at Will. Will giggled at the name, "That's a lame name but, yes." He answered. "It is not a lame name." Mike defended. "Who came up with it anyway?" Will asked, giggling again. "I did but that's besides the point." Mike said, hitting Will's shoulder. "You two nerds ready to go?" El said, walking out of the door.  "Uh, yeah." Mike said. 

Once all three of them got to school, Mike quickly found the red - head that Will saw in the Polaroids in Mike's wall. "Hey Wheeler!" She said, giving him a hug. "Hey Max!" He said, pulling away from the hug. "I have some people you need to meet." Mike said, moving out of Max's field of vision. "These are my new neighbors." He added. "Hi! I'm Will and this is my sister, El" Will said, sticking his hand out. "I'm Max!" She said, shaking it and waving at El, who waved back. "What class do you guys have first?" She asked. "I have world history." Will said, looking at the schedule he had written on his phone. "I have geometry." El added. "Oh, that's my first class too! Follow me!" Max said, starting to walk in the opposite direction of the hall. "Bye, Wheeler!" She added. "I guess I'll see you guys later." El said before following Max. "Bye Ellie." Will said. 

Will turned back to Mike, "Do you have any idea where I need to go?" Will asked, giggling. "Yeah, you're in my class, don't worry." Mike said, grabbing Will's hand and walking up the hall. "What's with you and dragging me places?" Will laughed from behind him. "Maybe it's 'cause you're too slow." Mike replied. "Lies." Will stated. "Or, maybe it's because I like to hold your hand." Mike added. "You may never know, Byers." Mike concluded, stopping at a classroom labeled, WORLD HISTORY, GRADE 10, Mrs. DeMarco. Will tried to ignore how flustered he was at Mike's last comment and walked into the classroom, alongside Mike. "I'll be right back." Will said, once both of them got to Mike's seat. "Okay." Mike nodded. 

"Hi, Mrs. DeMarco?" Will said, walking to the teachers desk. "Yes?" She said, looking up from her computer. "Hi, I'm Will Byers, I'm a new student." He smiled. "Oh, yes! Welcome! Have you settled in fine?" She smiled. "Yeah, as best as I can. Thanks for asking" He smiled back as she nodded. "Where can I sit?" He asked. "Oh, this is an open seating class room so you can sit anywhere." She smiled again. "Thank you." He said. She nodded again and went back to looking at whatever was on her computer.
