"Hey Joyce, I have a question." She tilted her head up in acknowledgement of both his presence and statement. He leaned against the counter at Melvald's, both hands behind his back and a confused Joyce in front of him. He placed a box of raisins down. "Do you like raisins?" She shook her head, still unsure where he was going with that. "How about a date?" Rather than pulling out a literal box of dates- like she was expecting- he brought out a flower bouquet.

She looked in confusion before she realized what he meant. She flushed, not sure if it was because of the fact he just asked her out or because she hadn't recognized his joke. She figured it was the former. "Such a flirt," she said, taking the flowers. They were her favorites, how he figured out her favorite flowers she didn't know. There was also a card on the far side. She looked at the card, then at him, confused. Why give her a card if he was here?

"I was going to have it delivered, but I couldn't do that to a pretty lady like you." She blushed again.

"Should I still open it?"

"If you want to." She decided to, and carefully pulled the tab.

"Dear Joyce,

I love you. I really love you. I have for a long time. I think that you're so beautiful, both inside and out. You're kind and funny, smart and genuine, and you have such a huge heart. I wish I had had the balls to tell you this in person or sooner. But, I really care about you, Joyce. Have these flowers, which I know are your favorite.

<3 Hopper"

She smiled and blinked back tears. He really cared about her and she loved him. She set down the flowers for a moment, before leaning over and kissing him softly. It was awkward with a counter in the way, but it was still perfect for them. His hand came to her cheek and the other practically picked her up and pulled her over the counter, knocking down the raisins and the flowers, but they didn't care. She hooked her arms around his waist, intensifying the kiss.

They finally broke apart and smiled at each other. He held her by the hips, and his thumb gently grazed her cheek. "I love you, Hopper. I would love to go on a date with you." He grinned at her, and kissed her again.

"I love you too, Joyce," he mumbled into her ear when he broke away. She hugged him close, and he returned the favor.
