As he stepped inside he noted a few things. There was a hole in the wall, an ax on the ground, and Christmas lights strung everywhere; covering the ceiling and walls, he absentmindedly wondered how expensive her light bill would be that month. The floor was cluttered and the whole room seemed to be messy.
He didn't like to judge her, but she was an absolute mess. He honestly thought that she was crazy. She claimed the impossible and denied all facts in order to make her ideas a reality. He hated to see his old friend in this state.
"Hopper... he's alive. I know it. I talked to him!"
"How did you talk to someone that's dead?"
"D-dead..? I was just talking to him. With the lights." She denied any chance that her son could be dead, even though Hopper had seen the kid getting dragged out of the water.
"Speaking of the lights, what the hell?!"
"Before you say anyth-" She started, but he cut her off.
"Did you do this by yourself?" She nodded, confused. "Joyce! You should have called me. I would've helped you!"
"Do you want to know why I put them up?"
"Yes, but first I want to know why the hell you did all this by yourself."
"I'm perfectly capable of doing shit by myself."
"I know that, but next time, call me. Call me."
"Okay?"
-Time Skip: A Few Months Later-
"Who the fuck is calling me at 4:13 in the morning on a Saturday?" Was how he answered her call, sounding quite annoyed.
"Hey, Hop. You told me to call you next time, and it's next time."
"Joyce, it's four in the goddamn morning. Can't you do it later?"
"I'll do it by my self if you won't help me dammit."
"No. No, I'll be there in 10 minutes, okay?" She agreed and smiled, and the line went dead.
